1.Describe in your own words what the four ways of knowing is all about.

After I read the article, Carper's fundamental ways of knowing are: empirical, personal, ethical,
and aesthetic. From my perspective, (1) empirical is something you knew it by seeing by
yourself, in connection to healthcare, this is factual and you can't say something on what had
happened to a patient based on your feeling or imagination; (2) personal is something that you
understand it by yourself and putting yourself on the foot of the patient, your empathy pushes
you to take a decision; (3) ethical is something you knew that it is driven by attitudes, as a
healthcare worker, you shall not attempt to do the things despite their position in the society,
let's just say they are morally disadvantage, by applying ethical way, you possess or raises
value to human rights; lastly, (4) aesthetic is something you use your feeling, senses and
perceive signals between patient and his or her situation, it is like if you feel that it need an
immediate action for the status of the patient, then, there's a need to follow what you have see
and not the protracted one. These four ways are helpful and slightly adequate enough to
overcome as for now, especially during internship or in a crisis situation where you are a
medical volunteer.

2. Using this as a guide think of 4 situations in your life where you have used this or as you see
yourself in the future.

I had said that it can be used during internship and as a medical volunteer in crisis situations. If I
could see myself in the future, it can be during internship, I knew at first that I will encounter or
be assigned to a patient with certain conditions relating to my future field of expertise, that first
way I shall use is personal, when I see that something is in difficult situation, by using the
Carper's four ways specifically empirical, my decision stake to a helpful fate corresponding to
patient’s situation; and being a medical volunteer those pandemic times, I must use this
fundamental ways to avoid delayed response, medical error, misdiagnosis, malpractice or
treatment failure, since I am holding a life and someone's fate depends on my decision, using
personal, empirical and ethical helps avoid the said consequences. In addition, I have used this,
not just in healthcare situations, it is when I am mentally stable, having friends was my escape. I
was befriending a lot of people and found out that a group of friends or circle I knew I have in
my entire life was just something in the context of manipulation. I was manipulated by the fact
that they're just playing with my mind to a problem I really do care about. By using an aesthetic
way, I observed and finally judged them that they're putting me in a situation I don't deserve.
Lastly, the situation I knew I applied them all was on a physiological exam, exams need
experience and evidence, so I should not hire a fixer and do a thing for faster transactions, what
I did was do what is needed like taking an exams for evidence and experience (empirical), you
knew how difficult it was and know how was the feeling on the situation of others while
answering (personal), you abide the proper and legal actions (ethical), and you can sense the
environment such as pressure and demotivation (aesthetic).
