If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you don’t like February!

It is cold, the days

are short and it rains a lot! Sometimes, it snows. The sky is
grey and cloudy. Happily, it is a short month, just twenty-
eight days. Twenty-eight days of wearing warm clothes, hats
and coats. There is one good thing about February and that is
Saint Valentine’s Day on February 14 th. Apart from that, it is
a miserable month… Unless we change our attitude to February!
Let’s think that each of the twelve months of the year is like
one of the twelve hours of the day. January is 8am, just
getting out of bed. The summer months – June, July, August,
are like lunch time, full of nice things. The autumn months are like late afternoon when
we are taking things easy. The winter month December is night time, when we are
getting ready for bed. So – what does that make February? February is 9 o’clock in the
morning! We are having breakfast and making our plans for a great day. So, if you
follow my logic – February is a month of optimism and potential. A time to be positive!
Oh, it’s February now, so good morning! Time to make your plans for a great year!

This is adapted. Here is the original article.

‘February needs a rebranding. As a month it’s basically 28 days of hat-hair interrupted by an

invasion of Valentine teddies with synthetic hearts. But hear me out. My theory is that a year is
like a day. Each month is like one of 12 hours of the day. January is 8am, just creaking out of
bed; summer has the white-hot languor of high noon; autumn is of course one long dusky tea-
time of the soul; and at the end we reach louche December when things have got twinkly and
dark, our feet are tired but we keep on dancing.
That makes February a cool, clear month of potential. We’ve sat down at our desks, unclouded
by the frittering and disappointments the “day-year” inevitably accrues. For now, February
means optimism. Good morning.’
