Course Learning Objectives:

1. To introduce the basic concepts of Wave and optics.


2. To analyse different wave characteristics and its properties.
3. To understand basic theory related to electrostatics and electromagnetics.
4. To examine different laws related to electricity and magnetism
5. To introduce students with different active and passive devices and understand
its working principle.
6. To examine different topologies of DC circuits and associated laws.
Course Learning Outcomes:

• After successfully completing the course, the students will be able to:
1. Define wave parameters and be able to derive the one-dimensional wave equation.
2. Explain the behavior of mechanical and electromagnetic waves such as interference,
diffraction, polarization.
3. State the basic parameters used to define behavior of electric fields and the
fundamental laws associated with electric fields; to solve various problems.
4. Explain the fundamental laws of magnetism and write its application.
5. Demonstrate the different active and passive devices with application to DC circuits.
6. Analyze DC circuit with application to Kirchhoff’s law.
