I WILL NOT LAVE THEE COMFORTLESS

Anxiety and Depression

Because I felt similarly awful pain, we could over a hug, a shoulder to cry on that each friend needed. In
a much more perfect way, Jesus does that for all of us. When we’re sick, or sad, or hurt, we can come to
Him to unburden ourselves, we go to Him for a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear, because He
experiences exactly what we’re going through. Not just similar to what we’re going through, but what
we’re exactly going through (put an emphasis on that). Jesus promised His disciples in John 14:18, “I will
not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” Even though He may not physically come to us in our
difficult moments , we can certainly come to Him spiritually and find rest for our weary souls in one who
understands us perfectly. JESUS WILL COMFORT YOU PERFECTLY.

LOVE IS THE ANSWER

How can we stay devoted to the gospel when things aren’t going well in our lives?

John 14:15 If ye love me, bkeep my ccommandments.

We can’t leave this gospel, just because we’re expecting certain blessings. Just ask Job, Peter, Joseph
Smith or countless others who have had difficult struggles despite their righteousness. So why would we
live the gospel and keep the commandments if life might be difficult anyway? We have to get to the
point where we live and gospel and keep the commandments out of love. When we love Heavenly
Father and Jesus Christ so much, we would naturally want to do anything that will help us become like
them. And that’s what the commandments help us to, to become like our Heavenly Father and our
Savior. We can’t feel entitled to receive certain blessings in our lives just because we keep the
commandments, instead, our hearts will be happier when we obey out of pure love. OBEY OUT OF LOVE.

GREATER LOVE

What would you be willing to sacrifice to help a friend?

What would you be willing to sacrifice to help an enemy?

Well, even though we try our hardest to love anyone, there are certain people that we struggle to feel
charity towards them. If I was to ask to sacrifices great amount of time, effort to help them, we may not
be sure if we could do it. Well in speaking about His Atoning sacrifices, Jesus say is John 15:13,
“Greater alove hath no man than this, that a man lay down his blife for his cfriends.” And while we believe
those words, we can think and feel the Savior in His actions went beyond that. He laid down His life for
those who considered Him their enemy. Jesus died so that those who crucified Him might find
forgiveness. He died so that the crowd who called for Barabas’s release instead of Him could have mercy
on judgement day. He died so that those who profane His name can change their hearts and lives
someday hoping for and expecting grace. So YES, Jesus loved His friends enough to die for them, but He
also loved those who hated Him, and so should we. LOVE THOSE WHO HATE YOU.
MY BEST SCRIPTURE STUDY TIP

Always study with a pen in your hand. I discovered this when I decided to study the scripture rather than
just reading them. I picked up a pen and started writing in the margins of my scriptures and I noticed
that two different things started to happen. First, whenever I try to write something on the margins of
my scriptures, I could feel that spirit teach me something new. Little answers and tiny bits of revelations
will come literally as I wrote things down. And second, the Spirit would bring quotes, ideas, talks or
doctrines to my mind that I haven’t thought of in a while. The spirit certainly has perfect memory and I
was making connections all over the place. Now the Savior taught about these 2 very important roles of
the spirit to in John 14:26, “But the aComforter, which is the bHoly Ghost, whom the Father will send in
my cname, he shall dteach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have
said unto you.” So lets give it a try, as we read our scriptures this week, always have a pen or a pencil
ready to go. You don’t need to stress about remembering every detail of what your read or finding all the
hidden lessons in the scriptures, why? Because that is the Spirits job. LET HIM TEACH AND REMIND.

WE NEED THE HOLY GHOST

The Apostles were must have been distraught, their teacher and friend is leaving them, like what would
they do without Him? Go back to their former lives? That would be impossible. He had changed them,
and yet they still needed His help desperately, especially if they were to spread His gospel throughout
the world. But Jesus taught them something powerful. In John 16:7, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It
is aexpedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the bComforter will not come unto you; but if I
depart, I will send him unto you.” For reasons we don’t understand, the Holy Ghost hadn’t been holy
active in the Apostles lives while they had Jesus with them. But once He left, they received that gift in full
measure and made a huge difference. The apostle who once seem to struggle with their faith and
understanding were now powerful missionaries. Thy fearlessly shared Christ’s gospel even unto death.
They had been good men when Jesus was with them but now under the influence of the Holy Ghost they
became great men. If we want to become truly great, we also need to seek out the Holy Spirit. His
influence can change us inside out. THE SPIRIT MAKES US BETTER.
