The Digital Villages Initiative (DVI) is a flagship
programme of FAO that aims to transform at least
1000 villages around the world by empowering
rural communities to harness digital technologies to:

agricultural production, including smart sensors, precision
agriculture tools, and geospatial-based platforms.

Enhance ACCESS to SERVICES


Deliver advisory and financial services to farmers
digitally, connect producers with buyers online,
and diversify farm economic activities by digitally

UPLIFT rural LIVELIHOODS


Foster a holistic digital rural transformation
beyond the agrifood sector, in areas like health,
transport, and energy.
