SIMILE-

a type of figurative language that describes something by

METAPHOR-

denoting one kind of object or idea is used in place of
another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them

the attribution of human characteristics to things,
abstract ideas, etc., as for literary or artistic effect

HYPERBOLE

is the repetition of the same sound at the start of a series
of words in succession whose purpose is to provide an
audible pulse that gives a piece of writing a lulling, lyrical,
and/or emotive effect.

OXYMORON
a phrase that combines two words that seem to be the
opposite of each other.

expression for one that may offend or suggest
something unpleasant

the naming of a thing or action by imitation of natural
