1. Extract the attached zip (rename from .z__ to .

zip) to a location of your choice

2. Create the path “C:\ProgramData\NCR\Retail”

3. Run NcrSoftWedgeMsrConfig.exe

4. Configure Track Sentinels and Intertrack Separators as follows:


a. Switch Input Format to ASCII
b. Delete ITS for Track 1 and Track 2
c. Enter the Following Start and End Sentinels:
i. Track 1 SS: %
ii. Track 1 ES: ?
iii. Track 2 SS: ;
iv. Track 3 ES: ?

d. Select Write to File


e. Browse to “C:\ProgramData\NCR\Retail”
f. Save as “NcrSoftWedgeMsr.cfg”
5. Run NcrSoftWedgeMsr.exe

6. Open Notepad (make sure it has focus)

7. Swipe card

To make any changes to the configuration, first exit any running instance of the
NcrSoftWedgeMsr utility (right click NCR logo in system tray and select Exit). Once
configuration changes are made (following the same process as above), Re-run
NcrSoftWedgeMsr.exe.

At any point in the process, to confirm the MSR itself is working outside of the keyboard
wedge service, do the following:
1. Exit any running instance of the NcrSoftWedgeMsr utility (right click NCR logo in
system tray and select Exit).

2. Open a command prompt and run “hwdebug –msr”.

3. Swipe a card and verify the output in the command prompt window.
