Detail-Level
Edit Detail-Level Forecasts by Summary Vista
Overview
Select Edit Detail-Level Forecasts by Summary Vista from the Detail-Level menu. Use this editor to make
aggregate edits for different groupings of data. A vista is created for every combination of groupings selected. This
vista is similar to the Dynamic Vista but is more flexible by allowing the creation of several “dynamic vistas” at
once based on the groupings and filters. After editing the forecasts through vistas, your changes will be
disaggregated to each one of the combos that is in the vista.
Once your selections are made, click OK to open the editor. Click Cancel to return to the menu.
Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
Overview
Select Edit Detail-Level Forecasts by Outline Vista from the Detail-Level menu. Use this task to make
aggregate changes to any scope of data chosen on the front form. After editing the forecasts through vistas, your
changes will be disaggregated to each one of the combos that is in the vista. This vista displays the data in a
hierarchical outline view where each aspect chosen as a grouping in the list will be under the grouping above it.
The weeks are pivoted across the screen.
Export - Click this button to export the hierarchy to Excel for offline editing.
In Excel, each column will indicate a week, and the forecast values can be changed. The editing can then be
merged back into Prevail8. Refer to Parse Excel Outline Parcels for more detail.
Once your selections are made, click OK to open the editor. Click Cancel to return to the menu.
Campaign Graph
The campaign graph is updated based on information provided in the mappings and schedule. The historical
information from the Source is shown as a line, whereas the forecast for the Target is shown based on all of its
components as bars.

Manage Promotions
Edit Promotions
Select Edit Promotions from the Detail-Level/ Manage Promotions menu. Use this task to manage all future
promotions.
Promotions Grid
Add – This adds a new promotion which prompts the user to enter a scope of the Promotion. After the
promotion has been added then the status is Pending until being published. Before publishing, if an error is
made in selecting scope, it can be corrected by right-clicking on the Scope field for the promotion.
Copy – This allows users to copy parameters from an existing promotion to a new promotion which
include exceptions, pricing, scope and/or schedule. This new promotion will be named as a copy and can
be changed.
The following option buttons are available at the top right of the Promo Schedule grid:
Excl - This allows users to enter an exclusion for a time range of a historical promotion. This is helpful for
promotions that run for an extended amount of time such that if a portion is not excluded then the
history could be over exceptionalized and the exceptional volume would be more representative of a base
volume. When clicking on this button, users will see this prompt:
Add – This adds a promotion schedule with the option to pick from and thru date or from and thru week:
The Promo Schedule grid provides useful information analyzing the effect of promotions as well as setting
expectations for future promotions. Users will be able to set a Target Volume based on an Adjustment against
the Base Volume.
Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
This target Volume can then be published to the live forecast volume (at the detail level).
The current generated volume and live forecast volume are available for comparison purposes. Along with this
the current Forecast Lift % can be compared to the Target Lift %.
During a promotional period, the evolution of the actual volume compared to the forecasted volume and target
volume can be monitored. This is done through the % Act to Target and % Act to Fcst. This allows users to see
how effective the promotion is and if it is meeting expectations. The Act Lift Pct indicates the true lift of the
promotion with respect to the calculated base volume.
If the promotion spans multiple weeks then a separate grid is available to review certain information by week
such as forecast volume, actual volume, base volume and generated volume.
Promotions Interface
Promotions can also be merged into the system through the IDTLP interface. Refer to the Prevail API Document for
more information on interface table. Areté Implementers can configure a setting to automatically publish any
promotions merged in through an interface
The historical base volumes allow users to evaluate how well a promotion did in the past.
When building block management is enabled in Canopy8, information on building blocks can be seen in plan-level
vista editor grids and graphs. The options are as follows:
Base Gap – stacked bar graph of Base Volume compared to Target Volume. When the orange bar is
above the grey/blue bar then the orange portion represents a positive target lift volume above the base
volume (grey/blue bar). If the orange bar is below the grey/blue bar then the orange portion represents
the Target Volume and the grey portion represents the negative target lift volume below the base volume.
Note that if Target Lift is not filled out (history or future) then the graph represents the base volume.
Live Gap - Stacked bar graph of Live Volume compared to Target Volume. Same comparisons apply as
with Base Gap except live volume is used instead of base volume.
Gen Gap – Stacked bar graph of Generated Volume compared to Target Volume. Same comparisons
apply as with Base Gap except generated volume is used instead of base volume.
In vista history and future grids the following information can be seen to review building blocks in more detail:
Tgtliftvol – Target Lift Volume. Note that in a vista grid this is aggregated information which could have
multiple building blocks contributing to the lift.
Tgtvol – Target Volume which is Base Volume + Target Lift Volume.
Tgtliftpct – Target Lift Percentage [(Target Lift Volume / Base Volume)*100]
Base Gap - (Target Volume – Base Volume)
Live Gap - (Target Volume – Live Volume)
Gen Gap - (Target Volume – Generated Volume)
Promotions
An additional grid can be found in vistas called Promotions. This grid will indicate any promotions / building blocks
contributing to the target lift volume for the selected week. The grid will detail the amount of Target Lift Volume for
each promotion.

To access the draft editor, click on the Draft button on the top right corner of the Projections grid. This button will
create a copy of your current Vista Projections grid where you can make any volume and mix edits. The edits will
not affect the live volume without user approval.
Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
Draft Editor Options: The Draft editor has the Vista Projections and Details grids of the Outline vista. Those are
labeled as Outline Draft and Comparisons in the Draft Editor. There are three options on the top right corner of the
Outline draft grid:
Reset: Cancels all the changes you made in the draft mode.
Show Mix%: Shows/hides the mix percentage columns.
Show locked volume: Shows/hides the locked volume columns. Locked volume column displays the total volume
that users cannot change due to locks set up in other Marquee8 editors. Locks added in other editors cannot be
removed in the Draft Editor. Users should return to the Outline Vista (or any other editor) and unlock those cells if
necessary. Locked volume is displayed in red as illustrated in Figure 5.
Fixing the year volumes (rows): The Draft editor allows users to fix the year volume (see Figure 6). Edits made
while the year volume is fixed will not affect the total volume, rather will be distributed among the unlocked cells
while keeping the year (and all other locked cells) unchanged. To fix the year volume, go to the last column in the
right (Year), do a right click at the level you want to fix the volume (grand total for the whole company) and click
fix.
You can also apply the same fix at any level: You can fix the total year volume for the Convenience Channel, for
the Bronx River Territory or for any of the can, glass or pet container types. To un-fix the volume, simple right click
on the same cell you have fixed and select un-fix.
Locking Month volumes (columns): To fix a month’s volume, simple click in the Grand Total cell for that month
and click Lock. You can lock total months, or any level under a month. For example, you can lock all the
Convenience volume for November by right clicking on the intersection of Convenience and 201011 and selecting
Lock.
Here is an example where the full year Grand Total is fixed (yellow cells), Convenience channel volume for 201011
is locked and Brook Lake YTG volume is also locked (brown cells).
Reference
Publishing Draft Edits to Live Forecasts: Edits made in the Draft editor do not affect the live forecast volume
until published by the users. To publish the edited volumes, simply click close and select Yes in the alert window
that pops up. All edits will be published to your live forecasts and you will be able to see the edited volume once
you reopen any vista editor.
Select Generate Plan-Level Auto Exceptions and Exclusions from the Plan-Level menu. Use this task to
automatically identify price and volume outliers.
Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
Select the checkbox for Auto-Exceptionalize based on Volume Outliers to flag unusual volume values
with an auto-exception. If a data point is auto-exceptionalized then the auto-exception value can be seen
in the Auto Exc field in model history grid of the Edit Plan Combos editor. Auto-exceptions need to be
configured in the Edit Exceptions editor under the Set-up /Set-up Forecasting Entities sub-menu.
Automatic exceptions need to have an Autosds which is the standard deviations to use for comparison. For
example, you may have an Auto-HI+ exception set to 2.5 standard deviations above the mean historical
sales volume.
Select Find & Exclude Price Outliers to flag net/retail price regression outliers and exclude them.
Cook’s distance is a statistical technique used to determine outliers and/or high leverage data points. It is
an evaluation procedure that determines the effect of removing data points. Data points with high cook’s
distance factors may reduce the accuracy of a regression model.
Select Exclude Short Weeks to exclude weeks with less than 7 days from being used in forecasting
models.
Select Locate Price Shifts to flag points in history that experienced a net/retail price shifts.
Select Exclude Points Prior To Most Recent Price Shift to exclude net/retail prices from regressions
for weeks before the price shift. This should improve linear regressions on price.
Select Omit Previously Excluded Points from Calculations to ignore current exclusions when running
the generator. This is unchecked by default and should in most cases not be checked.
Set the Cook's Distance Factor. This factor is used as a threshold when finding and excluding price outliers.
Preserve All Price Exclusions - If this option is selected then no points will be excluded when
running the generator. Points will only be flagged as outliers
Preserve All Edited Price Exclusions - If this option is selected then the system will preserve
direct adjustments and vista-level adjustments when running the generator
Preserve Direct Edited Price Exclusions - If this option is selected then the system will only
preserve direct adjustments and not vista level adjustments when running the generator
Overwrite All Price Exclusions - If this option is selected then the system will overwrite all
adjustments when running the generator
Select Generate Plan-Level Models from the Plan-Level menu. Use this task to build your planning models that
will be used by the planning projector. The models are stored away for easy retrieval by the forecasting engine.
The Café models generated by this routine can be found in the plan combos editor by going to Plan-Level / Edit
Plan-Level Projections by Combo and viewing the Gen Hier grid for the selected plan combo. Café model
hierarchies should be defined in Set-Up / Set-Up Forecasting Entities / Edit Café Model Settings prior to
generating plan-level models.
* Note – If future projections are changed, the plan models do not have to be regenerated. This is only needed
when historical information is changed.
Select the desired Aspects as filters and click OK. You can save your selections by Clicking the Save As… button.
Previously saved selections will be listed under the Saved Settings grid in the opening form.

Manage Growth
Auto-Assign Plan Combos to Growth Vistas
Market growth is often analyzed at a high-level view. Marquee8 allows users to decide on the level to review
growth with the lowest level of granularity being the planning combo. Being consistent with life-cycle management,
a common growth vista may be by product.
To assign combos to growth vistas go to Plan-Level > Manage Growth > Auto-Assign Plan Combos to
Growth Vistas.
Marquee8 uses advanced statistical techniques to determine annual growth taking into consideration yearly
fluctuations by month.
Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
When generating growth, the history timeframe must be selected. The current year can be used in calculating
growth if selected as the Thru Year and provided that the Min Periods in Year threshold is reached. The From
Year and Thru Year represent the time range to project growth for the Plan chosen.
Growth Alpha – The weighting used in a moving average model for annual sales.
POY Alpha - The weighting used in a moving average used for period-of-year sales.
Mature Threshold – The threshold of change to classify a product as reaching the mature stage of its
lifecycle.
Saturated Threshold – The relative comparison threshold to classify a product as reaching the saturated
stage of its lifecycle.
Min Periods In Year – This parameter is used to dictate how many periods are necessary in a given year
to use that year for calculating growth. For years that pass the threshold but are not complete, the
volume is normalized for the remaining periods. For example, if a given product started to sell in October
then that year would only have 3 months contributed to the annual volume which would be inaccurate if
normalized for the remaining periods of the year due to seasonal variations not being considered.
Growth Model Locks – These locking features are the same as in other routines and it is the live
forecasts that are locked.
Marquee8 provides the flexibility to review growth based projections versus Café generated projections and live
projections in order to decide which to use for the official projection. A combination of each is also acceptable. For
example, the café generated projection could be used until the end of the current year then growth models used
for subsequent years.

Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
The growth vista lists all of the vista groupings based on the established vista assignment rules. The Lifecycle is the
life cycle calculated by Marquee. Users have the option to override the life cycle by changing the Mdllifecycle based
on their own expertise.
The MinPeriods option allows users to override the defaulted minimum periods for a given vista.
If Edited contains an * then this indicates that there is a difference between the Fcst Vol (Live Marquee Volume)
and the Vol (Draft Volume only used in growth editor) for a Period Forecast that can changed. For example, when
there is a frozen period (forecast that is fixed and cannot be changed) then it would not be flagged as Edited even
if there is a difference because the Fcst Vol and Vol.
Fcst Vol – The Live volume for the given calendar year
Growth Vol – The Growth volume (based on growth models) for the given calendar year
PY Vol - The volume for the previous calendar year
Growth Pct – The percentage growth between the previous year and the selected year
Cvol – The cumulative volume throughout the history being considered
Edited – indicates if there is a difference between the Live Forecast Volume (Fcst Vol) and Draft Vol (Vol)
for data that can be adjusted.
VolSrc – The draft volume source. It can be:
o G – Growth Vol
o ~ - Forecast Vol
o D – directly edited draft Vol
Lockedfcstvol – indicates the amount of live forecast volume that is locked
Lock This Year – Locks the draft Volume for the selected year
Clear Locks for this Year – clears any locks on volume for the selected year
Lock All Years – locks the volume for all future years
Set to Growth Vol - Sets Vol to the Growth Vol for the selected year
Set This and Future Years to Growth Vol - This will set Vol to Growth Vol for selected year and
subsequent years in the editor
Set to Fcst Vol – Sets Vol to the Forecast Vol (Live Marquee forecast volume) for the selected year
Set This and Future Years to Fcst Vol - This will set Vol to Forecast Vol for the selected year and
subsequent years
Set to Gen Vol - Sets Vol to Gen Vol for the selected year
Set This and Future Years to Gen Vol - This will set Vol to Gen Vol for the current year and
subsequent years
Adjust off This Year - This enables the adjustment of the current year by a percentage
Adjust off Previous Year – This enables the adjustment of the current year based on a percentage lift of
the previous year. This option is designed to manage growth from one year to another.
Lock Fcst Vol for This Year – Locks the Forecast volume for the selected year
Clear Fcst Vol Locks for this Year – clears any locks on forecast volume for the selected year
Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
Any changes made to the yearly volume will be disaggregated based on the method selected in the Period Fcst
grid.
The method used to disaggregate yearly numbers is managed with the radio button selections at the top of the
Period Fcst grid. The options are Vol, Gen Vol, Fcst Vol, or Growth Vol.
the Period Fcst grid are similar to the Year Fcst grid.

The Period Hist grid provides information on historical growth for given periods.
The Growth By Year Graph allows users to visualize the volume by year. The history bars are grey and the future
volume is blue. For Vol equal to the Growth Vol, the future volume is colored in green. For Vol different than
either Fcst Vol or Growth Vol, the future volume is colored in a dark blue. These graph overlays are available.
The color scheme of the Growth By Period graph is the same as that of the Growth by Year graph. The same
overlays are available at the Period level as the Year level except for Cumulative Vol.
Publishing
When exiting the editor, users are prompted to publish changes. Publishing will replace the live projection
(forecast) volume will with the draft volume from the editor. All edits will be preserved but not applied until
published.
Manage Elasticity
Auto-Assign Plan Combos to Elasticity Vistas
Price Elasticity is often analyzed at a product or product/channel level. Marquee8 allows users to decide on the
level to review elasticity with the lowest level of granularity being the planning combo.
To assign combos to Elasticity vistas go to Plan-Level > Manage Elasticities > Auto-Assign Elasticity Groups
to Plan Combos.
Reference
Marquee8 uses advanced statistical techniques to determine elasticity curve based on the grouping vistas
configured.
When generating elasticities, the history timeframe must be selected. This informs the system of the amount of
data to use for calculating the elasticity of demand.
Edit Elasticities
Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
Marquee8 provides the flexibility to review elasticities and cross elasticities for the groupings being managed. To
access this option go to Plan-Level > Manage Elasticity > Edit Elasticities.
To focus on only certain groupings, the system allows for filtering by vista groupings configured.
Scenarios Grid
The scenario grid displays all of the scenarios creating to evaluate potential impact of price changes based on self-
elasticity and cross-elasticity effects. The following columns are available:
Scenario: The short description of the scenario
Scenario name: The longer description of the scenario
Base Volume: The total calculated base volume for the elasticity groupings being reviewed in the editor.
This will be the same across all scenarios.
Base Rev: The total calculated Base Revenue for the elasticity groupings being reviewed in the editor.
Recent Volume: The total sales volume for the most recent complete month of data.
Recent Rev: The total revenue for the most recent complete month of data.
Scenario Vol: The total scenario volume which takes into consideration potential changes in volume due to
changes to scenario price. The strength of the self-elasticity and cross-elasticity will affect the scenario
volume.
Scenario Rev: The total scenario revenue which is based on the scenario price and scenario volume.
Vol Diff – The potential volume difference resulting from applying the scenario prices.
Rev Diff – The potential revenue difference resulting from applying the scenario prices.
Vol Diff Pct: The potential % difference in volume resulting from applying the scenario prices.
Rev Diff Pct: The potential % difference in volume resulting from applying the scenario prices.
Entity Grid
Reference
The entity grid provides information on all of the elasticity groupings configured. There is a wealth of information
available in this grid but the highlights are:
Vista Name - The description of the elasticity grouping. This will consider all plan combos that match the
grouping criteria.
Self-Elasticity – This is the elasticity being applied between the volume of the grouping and the average
price of the grouping. At first this will match the system generated elasticity. However, it can be edited by
users if it is intended to apply different elasticity settings. This can be based on the knowledge of the user.
The self-elasticity will be set to 0 if the generated elasticity is counter-intuitive. A counter intuitive self-
elasticity would be a positive value because this would imply increasing the price increases the volume
which would be an erroneous assumption.
Gen Elasticity - The system generated elasticity.
Base Price - The calculated base price for that vista grouping.
Base Vol - The calculated base volume for that vista grouping.
Scenario Price - The scenario price for that vista grouping. At first it will match the base price which
indicates no change. The user can try different prices to see potential affects.
Scenario Volume - The potential resulting volume from the scenario price change.
Influential Prices is a child grid of the Entity Grid. It indicates all the different groupings that affect the volume of
the selected grouping in the entity grid. By default the selected grouping’s price will influence its own volume so it
will be populated in the grid. Users have the option to pick other groupings (by selecting the Edit checkbox at the
top right of the grid) for which they believe that groupings price has an effect on the selected entity’s volume. In
the example shown in Figure 6, Energeticos is chosen as selected to have an influential price.
Vista Name - A given vista grouping. The grouping highlighted in bold matches the entity being evaluated
in the parent Entity grid. Other records indicate groupings chosen by a user to be influential.
Cross Elasticity - For other groupings, this is the calculated elasticity between that grouping and the
selected grouping of the entity grid.
Gen Elasticity - The system calculated cross elasticity.
Vol Cross Correlation - For other groupings it is the correlation between the price of the other grouping
and the volume of the selected entity grouping.
Price Cross Correlation - For other groupings, it is the correlation between the price of the other grouping
and the price of the selected entity grouping.
Scenario Price - The scenario price for a given vista grouping.
When adding several groupings, it may be needed to select the Populate Elasticity button at the top of the grid to
update the cross elasticity information.
Options are available to ease the process of selecting multiple groupings such as the All, Same, Above, and Below.
Affected Volumes a child grid of the Entity Grid. It indicates all the different groupings that are by the price of the
selected grouping in the entity grid. By default the selected grouping’s price will always affect its own volume so it
Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
will be populated in the grid. Users have the option to pick other groupings (by selecting the Edit checkbox at the
top right of the grid) for which they believe that groupings are effected by the price of the selected entity.
Vista Name - a given vista grouping. The grouping highlighted in bold matches the entity being evaluated
in the parent Entity grid. Other records indicate groupings chosen by a user to be effected.
Cross Elasticity - For other groupings, this is the calculated elasticity between that grouping and the
selected grouping of the entity grid.
Gen Elasticity - The system calculated cross elasticity.
Vol Cross Correlation - For other groupings it is the correlation between the price of the selected entity
grouping and the volume of the other grouping.
Price Cross Correlation - For other groupings, it is the correlation between the price of the other grouping
and the price of the selected entity grouping.
Scenario Price - The scenario price for a given vista grouping.
Elasticity Graph
The elasticity graph is displayed for both the Influential Prices and Affected Volumes grid. The graph displays the
elasticity or cross elasticity curve for quick visualization of the result. Users can choose to either have Net Price or
Volume on the Y axis by clicking the Swap Axis button.
Reference
History Grid
The History grid allows users to see the historical volume and pricing being used to calculate elasticity.
After testing out different scenarios in the elasticity editor, users have the ability to publish the price changes made
for the scenario. To access this feature go to Plan-Level > Manage Elasticities > Publish Elasticity Scenario
Prices.
The publishing allows the elasticity editor to be more than just analysis. It allows the changes to be applied to the
system directly. After applying the prices, re-generating plan projections is required to see the true effect because
the plan projection depends on other factors such as promotions and recent market sales trends.
Canopy8/Marque8 Functionalities
This tool helps planners compare actual sales and various kinds of projections among different plans.
Plan Options
Add – pops up this View Plan comparison sub-filter. Select the Plan, Year, Data Mode, and Data Column
for every plan that is added.
Delete – to remove a plan from the Plans filter
Clear - to remove all plans from the Plans filter
Make Base Plan – to label the plan that will serve as the basis of comparison for all other plans added
Reference
This tool is the same as View Plan Comparison except that the data is displayed in a single grid.
Editor Summary
Although the margin difference between a returnable a PET bottle for an individual sale is not much different, since
the returnable bottles can be used several times, there can be a significant cost savings. This tool helps planners
monitor the price of two groupings of data historically displaying the difference as a “gap.” This gap is converted
into a percentage for relative comparison.
Reference
In this example, the Kind Group “Retornable” is selected in Filter A, and the Kind Group “No Retornable” is selected
in Filter B. The plan selected is Rolling Estimate. Twelve periods of history and ten periods of forecasts will be
displayed.
