When Gregor woke up, he still did not understand that this day would change his

life forever. Ironically, the name “Gregor” is from the ancient Greek "γρηγορος"
(gregoros), which means "awake". He woke up like a baby on the first day , in his new
form , and he is trying to explore this world and learn how to live in this world . But this
attempt led to suffering and not to happiness for the main character. From the very
beginning, we understand that our Gregor does not like his job. “Oh, my God,” he
thought, "what a troublesome profession I have chosen!....", while you can notice the life
situations of both the author and the main character. Both of these people were forced
to engage in a trade they did not like . And here we see one of the European
philosophies of the 20th century , this is an existential crime . As I said , so it is now and
so it will be . Gregor primarily lives for someone , not for himself . He sacrifices himself
like a true hero, providing his powers and talents to protect those who lack support. But
what is Gregor's true purpose? What talents did he have and what would he have
wanted from this world if not for his family
”In just two or three evenings, he made, for example, a frame; such a beautiful
frame, just a sight; she ......” “Was he an animal if music excited him so much? It
seemed to him that the way to the desired, unknown food was opening up before him.”
These quotes make it clear that Gregor wanted more creativity in his life. He always cut
out beautiful frames and loved listening to his sister play the violin , even though he did
not know how to play a musical instrument himself . “Gregor had a secret idea to send
her to the conservatory next year, despite the high costs.” As usual , he is engaged in
his not favorite craft , but wanted to become a creator . When nature , the universe , or
God gives you talents and you don 't realize it , it 's an existential crime .
Existentialism is the meaning of human existence, it must find the meaning of life, but
the meaning can be bad or good, and how it will be accepted and perceived . And when
a person accepts his “meaning” in this life and realizes that he can no longer realize his
talents, then he wants to realize this in another person close to him. I would say that his
life is like that of Sisyphus, he drags a stone but without getting pleasure (I consider
“Sisyphus” work on behalf of existentialists, and not as mythology or history), like
Gregor doing his work without getting pleasure, but at the same time both are aware of
their meaning in this life. He does not live a “rich” life or not lived, Where he will not be
able to realize his talents, invested in him by the Creator. He works so hard that he has
no friends and no girlfriend , he is so lonely . Very ironically from his own surname, his
surname describes his condition in the world, “Jsem sám” from Czech translates (“I am
alone"). Gregor was endowed with the gift of an artist, which turned out not to be
embodied. From the point of view of Christian ethics, a person at birth receives not only
a soul, but also a set of spiritual abilities, developing which he continues the work of
God on earth. Gregor could not embody this divine plan, he was not worthy of the title of
man, therefore, an unknown force gives him the physical form that corresponds to his
inner appearance.
But why did Gregor do it? If he understood that he was not living a real life ? He
is not a mechagism , but a tormentor . Gregor understands that there are things more
important than him and he suffers when he realizes that he can no longer be the
support of the family. At the same time, you can see the relationship between the
government and the person. We understand that the government wants to control the
needs , but at the same time the person himself wants to be controlled , that is , he
wants to be significant , necessary than to have freedom .”Living bound by the law is
more important than being free “ Priest to Jozef Ka. If we assume that freedom is a
great responsibility , and people who are not yet ready for such responsibility , they are
weak . Franz Kafka sees himself in Gregor, his father considered him (Franz Kafka) a
loser, in this work he illustrates himself from his father's point of view. A totalitarian
society always uses human needs as the meaning of life , they manipulate the most
important spiritual categories such as : love , culture , family , religion , happiness ,
tolerance and freedom . in order to identify himself in the human mind with the supreme
law, that is why Gregor Samsa dies with confidence in the truth of those values for
which he goes to death.
You can give another comparison like the story in the gospel of Matthew, “The
Parable of the Talents” where the master gave five slaves talents, each used his talent
in business, only one did not do it, and only he was thrown into the darkness “and throw
the worthless slave into outer darkness: there will be crying and gnashing of
teeth.Matthew 25:14-23 (talents are gold in the parable, anology) . Let me remind you
that Gregor died in a dark room. You receive soul and intelligence from the creator, and
your task is to return them as more perfect when you leave. Gregor could not realize
this divine plan because of this, he lost the title of being called a man and an unknown
force gave him the physical form that corresponded to his inner appearance. Maybe
that's why he turned into a bug.
The transformation does not only concern Gregor, his physical appearance. It also
applies to members of Gregor 's family , too , but already mentally . In the beginning,
Gregor's family seemed like an ordinary family, but page by page we see that they are
beginning to lose their “humanity” the family has completely rejected Gregor as a family
member. Despite the fact that his sister “looked after” him in the first days, then she was
the first to raise the topic of Gregor's expulsion from the house and began to call him “it”
(Gregor). The family itself is already rejecting him and wants him to leave home as soon
as possible. “he thought of his family with tenderness and love. He also believed that he
should disappear, perhaps even more decisively than his sister.”,“Then his head sank
completely against his will, and he sighed weakly for the last time.”.
We see that even though he was rejected by his own family , he still remembers them
with love .For three truths are revealed that are available in an unknowable universe,
firstly death is inevitable, secondly life is incomprehensible, and thirdly, it is better to live
your life with love even if you live in a world where there may be no human meanings
and no love, the main thing is that it is all there in you in a person
