Independent Basic Service Sets (IBSS)
Basic Service Set (BSS)

 Service Set – A logical grouping of devices

 WLANs provide network access by broadcasting a


signal across a wireless radio frequency
 Transmitter prefaces its transmissions with a Service
Set Identifier (SSID)
 A station may receive transmissions from transmitters
with the same or different SSIDs.
