The officers of the Mathematics Club of the ACNHS

would like to put up an income generating project for them to
raise fund. They want to make an open box and supply it to
Bloom’s Flower Shop. The members of the Club would like to
know the precise procedure on how to make an open
rectangular box with a volume of 560 cubic inches from a 24-
inch by 18-inch rectangular piece of material. The main
problem is how to identify the side of identical squares to be
cut from the four corners of the rectangular sheet so that
such box can be made.
What will you do to meet the specification needed for the
box? Show a mathematical solution and draw the open
rectangular box/es using the computed dimensions.
