CHAPTER II

METHODOLOGY

This chapter consists of the research design, locale and population, sampling procedure, data

gathering instrument, data gathering procedure and data analysis.

Research Design

What qualitative research design are you going to apply. Review the types of qualitative research

design. (For your research, use phenomenology. Explain why phenomenology is the best design for

your research)

Include a definition of such research design. Cite your source.

Example:

The study will apply phenomenology as its qualitative research design. The study is claimed

to be a phenomenology since it is focused on the in-depth understanding of why advertising is so crucial to

businesses in Tabuk City during pandemic.

According to Smith (2003), phenomenology is the study of structures of consciousness as

experienced from the first-person point of view. The central structure of an experience is its intentionality,

its being directed toward something, as it is an experience of or about some object. An experience is

directed toward an object by virtue of its content or meaning (which represents the object) together with

appropriate enabling conditions.

Locale and Participants

Where will the study be conducted? Give a brief description of it. How many participants will

be involved?

Example:

The study will be conducted at Tabuk City, Kalinga and it will involve five business owners operating

in Dagupan Public Market. The participants will be chosen based on the following pre-selected criteria:

1. The participants should be operating for at least one year; 2. Must be operating during

pandemic……..

Sampling Procedure

Describe the sampling technique to be used in the study.

The sampling technique to be used in this study is purposive sample since……….

Data Analysis

Describe how collected data will be analyzed. (Search for thematic analysis as commonly used for

qualitative study). Provide definition of thematic analysis.
