KRIZZA AGUIDAN BSE- 3 SCIENCE

1. The environment studies enlighten us about the importance of protection and conservation of
our indiscriminate release of pollution into the environment. Environment science has become
significant for some reasons, why do you think so important? Enumerate at least five reasons
and explain each.

Environment studies is all about learning the way we should live and how we can develop sustainable
strategies to protect the environment. It helps individuals to develop an understanding of living and
physical environment and how to resolve challenging environmental issues affecting nature

 To learn and create awareness about environmental problems at local, national and
international levels- Environmental problems at local, national, and international levels
mostly occur due to the lack of awareness. Environmental science aims to educate and equip
learners with the necessary environmental skills to pass onto the community to create
awareness.
 To Discover Sustainable Ways of Living - Environmental science is more concerned with
discovering ways to live more sustainably. This means utilizing present resources in a manner
that conserves their supplies for the future. Environmental sustainability doesn’t have to
outlaw living luxuriously, but it advocates for creating awareness about the consumption of
resources and minimizing unnecessary waste. This includes minimizing household energy
consumption, using disposals to dispose of waste, eating locally, recycling more, growing your
own food, drinking from the tap, conserving household water, and driving your car less.
 To Realize that Environmental Problems Are Global- Environmental science lets you
recognize that environmental problems such as climate change, global warming, ozone layer
depletion, acid rains, and impacts on biodiversity and marine life are not just national
problems, but global problems as well. So, concerted effort from across the world is needed to
tackle these problems.
 Understanding The Interconnectedness Of Ecosystems- Environmental science is the study
of relationships within and between ecosystems. It helps us understand the complex
interactions that occur in ecosystems and the impacts humans have on them. It’s easy for
people in the modern world to forget how interconnected we are with nature, but everything
we do has cascading effects on the environment around us. Scientists help us understand these
effects and how to minimize them.
 Focus on Environmental Development- Environmental science aims to avoid stream
pollution and re-educate the general population about the importance of recycling to preserve
our available resources.Based on data-driven planning models, environmentalists seek to direct
development towards sustainability. We must use every available resource in the most efficient
way possible so that it can be saved for future generations.
2. Today we are facing a lot of env Today we are facing a lot of environmental challenges and it is
essential to make the public aware of the formidable consequences of the environmental
degradation, if not retorted and reformative measures undertaken would result in the
extinction of life. What are these challenges that humanity facing today?

Climate Change

Climate change is a great concern in today’s scenario. This problem has surfaced in the last few
decades. Greenhouse gases are the major cause of climate change. Environmental changes have
several destructive impacts such as the melting of glaciers, change in seasons, epidemics, etc.

Global Warming

The burning of fossil fuels, emissions from automobiles and chlorofluorocarbons add to the
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This has led to an increase in the earth’s temperature causing
environmental changes. This increase in temperature across the globe is known as global warming.

Water Pollution

The introduction of harmful substances into rivers, oceans, lakes and ponds, which changes the
physical, chemical or biological condition of the water is called water pollution. The polluted water
lacks oxygen and therefore the organisms die.

Water is the main source of life and therefore it is our prime duty to prevent it from any kind of
pollution.

Air Pollution

Air pollution is the result of emissions from industries, automobiles, and the increasing use of fossil
fuels. The gaseous emissions have added to an increase in the temperature of the earth. Not only this,
but it had also increased the risk of diseases among individuals.

Overpopulation

The earth’s population is increasing drastically. It is estimated to be more than seven billion. The
increasing population has led to a shortage of resources. If this continues, it will be very difficult to
sustain such a huge population. The other environmental issues including pollution, waste
management, deforestation, climate change and global warming are all associated with
overpopulation.
