A serial killer lures six social media influencers to a “popularity contest,” where they
must do horrible things to themselves to compete for “likes” to survive. Each round,
the influencer with the least amount of “likes” gets eliminated. In this game of “likes or
death,” only the most desperate and depraved will live to play another round.
(The horror structure of “Saw,” with a dark comedic “Get Out” social-satirical twist to it)
Along with the invitation is a description of the five other “influencers” represented by this phony agency, whom also received this
exclusive invitation:
Owen Dylan- Essentially, a Jake Paul knock off. Flaunting fast cars and pictures of him surrounded by pretty women throughout his
social media pages, Owen is a former Disney child actor-turned Youtuber. He gained his social media fame when he was arrested
smoking weed in the White House bathroom. He streamed the entire thing live on his Youtube channel, launching his new career as a
vlogger and influencer.
Reaction Randy- Known for his cartoon-like, rubber facial expressions and wacky catchphrases, Randy has gained thousands of
followers for his “reaction videos,” where he simply just reacts to and gives goofy commentary on other people’s content. He appears
to be bound to a wheel chair and come off as a little odd. Despite his hilarious facial expressions, he is almost incapable of socializing
with other people.
Elmira flowers- A self-renowned “food critic”, Elmira gained her social media followers by doing gross food reviews… in her car.
Reviewing everything from raw, still squirming octopus to ox anus, she’s a hustler, always trying to plug her social media pages and
peddle her merchandise to anyone who will listen.
Susanna Sampson- A MAGA supporting, housewife from the south. Super rich but completely ignorant and oblivious to the outside
world. Susanna flaunts her riches, from her lavish closets full of designer shoes to her Gucci shopping sprees. She gained her fortune
as a result of being a three-time divorcee to wealthy men as well as her own inheritance, where she inherited a ridiculous amount of
money from her father, who was the creator of the red light traffic camera (pretty much the worst invention of all time).
When Isaac walks in to the event, he finds his name on a card next to a glass of champagne. He picks up the glass and walks into the
event to introduce himself to the other guests and to meet the executives. He finds himself in a room with the other five influencers,
trying to chat and mingle with them, quickly discovering that each one has a worse personality than the last. Nobody seems to care
about anything other than the fact that there is no cell phone service. Isaac attempts to share a moment with them in leading them in
a champagne toast, to celebrate their soon to be newfound fame. They each drink their glass of champagne and begin to complain
that no producers or executives were there to greet them. Complaining leads to arguing and now there is a fight breaking out amongst
the group of influencers, with Isaac trying to play peacemaker. The fight between Georgina and Savanna continues to escalate and
about to reach a boiling point, when Savanna, unprovoked, passes out, mid-sentence, hitting the floor with a thud. Georgina, surprised
but also ignorant, takes credit for winning the fight, thinking that her words had something to do with it. Celebrating with her is
Fernando, who spontaneously, drops to the floor himself. Georgina soon after. Isaac is looking around, watching everyone drop one by
one. He looks at his champagne glass and things get very blurry, very quickly before everything goes dark and he passes out himself.
The monkey goes on to say that one person has already broken one of the rules on the invitation. Georgina brought her little
cameraman boyfriend, Fernando, with her and poor Fernando is going to find out the hard way what happens when you break the
rules. “Pop goes the Weasel” music begins to play. As it gets to the “Pop!” part in the song, his head bursts like a watermelon, leaving
everyone in shock and horror, as this sets an example of what happens when the rules are broken, and more importantly, what to
expect at the end of each round for the influencer with the least amount of likes.
The following Mood-Reel captures the look, tone, and feel of the film’s aesthetic’s, as well as the vibe of
the characters and emotions that Influencer intends to evoke from it’s audience.
SHALL WE PLAY?
Owen Dylan
A child Actor-Turned Youtuber, Owen was a Disney channel star when he was younger,
then after years out of the spotlight, he found his second calling as a popular Youtuber.
Since then, he’s been living a lucrative and extreme lifestyle, doing some high-risk,
crazy content for his channel, even getting arrested by the Feds for smoking a joint in
the White House bathroom while streaming it live. He also considers himself a hip-hop
artist, recording singles and releasing videos on his Youtube channel. Most of these
songs have to do with all of the material possessions he owns, pretty but materialistically
shallow women he surrounds himself with and how everyone hates on him.
The plan is to create actual social media pages for the influencer characters in the film, turning them
into real life “influencers”.
Many greedy influencers’ are using their influence to make money at the harm of others, they lure
the young people with their sugar-coated lies that the followers might fail to detect until such
influencers get exposed by any means. The truth is that the social media influencers only show the
sides of themselves they want the world to see. They want you to see how beautiful they look after
a breakup, how amazing their recent vacations were, and to show off their clothes that you just can’t
afford. And even then, we must speculate whether the side they’re showing is even true at all, that
it’s not just some fantasy they will go to great lengths to conjure up to fulfill their ego.
If you take a look around, it’s hard not to conclude that narcissism in America is on the rise and out
of control. People spend hours a day on social media posting about themselves and checking out
the posts of their “friends” and influencers/celebrities they follow. They worship celebrities, some of
whom have done little other than engage in relentless self-promotion. And selfies. Let’s not forget
selfies. The self-esteem of our children apparently hinges on them, with teenage girls incessantly
monitoring how they’re received by peers they barely know.
Horror movies have historically been some of the best return on investments throughout
the history of the movie industry. The loyal, passionate and overabundant horror movie
fan base has made it one of the most profitable genres, attracting large audiences and
lucrative box office revenues for movies that were produced on lower budgets than most
big-budgeted blockbusters. Three of the most recently successful horror movie franchises
are the Saw franchise The Conjuring franchise and the Scream franchise. Squid Game
pulled in a staggering 1.65 BILLION hours of viewing in just 28 days following its premiere -
equivalent to 182,000 years in total, according to Netflix.
The creative team behind Influencer is positioned to take advantage of the growing theatrical
commercial domestic, international, internet, independent film and cable markets. The team’s
participation and support is generated from an overall philosophical commonality that include
young, innovative, energetic filmmakers as well as award-winning, seasoned professionals. These
individuals have experienced stretching the production dollar making independent films. In this
regard, we can leverage our contacts in the industry to take advantage of every dollar in our
budget, whether we’re talking about lighting, camera or final editing.
After receiving the seal of approval from Sean P Diddy Combs, Long joined forces with Ciroc and Paramount Pictures to executive produce the cross-
branding commercials for Will Packer’s What Men Want. These commercials became Ciroc’s highest streamed commercials to date.
Long was groomed to take the driver’s seat as Executive Producer after being given the opportunity to produce on All Star Weekend, Jamie Foxx’s
directorial debut. He and the Oscar winner worked side by side tailoring a script worthy of a star-studded cast which included Gerard Butler, Robert
Downey, Jr., Eva Longoria, Jeremy Piven and DJ Khaled, to name a few. Long publicly credited Foxx for preparing him for his writing/producing road ahead.
Saying “Foxx, expanded my journey more than I could have imagined.”
He recently returned to the screen and starred in the critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning short film Still Harlem by Lynn Dow, winning the award for
“Best Actor” at the Southern Shorts Film Festival 2019
Long’s journey began in Chicago’s Southside, with a relatively normal family. While traveling the world for the US NAVY, Long found himself wanting to
pursue a career in entertainment. He completed his military tour and headed for New York, acting in Equity stage plays and off Broadway. However, his
heart was set on television and film. Long decided to continue his journey and move to Los Angeles.
He hit the TV circuit landing roles on hit shows including Fox’s Lie to Me with Tim Roth, the critically acclaimed House M.D. starring Hugh Laurie; Nip
Tuck starring Dylan Walsh, Julian McMahon and Joley Richardson; Jericho with Skeet Ulrich and Lennie James; and Lincoln Heights in which Long acted
alongside Chadwick Boseman.
While accruing a host of credits in front of the camera, Long’s interest in physical production grew. During a guest starring role on House M.D. Long found
himself paying more attention to the words on the page. On a quest for knowledge, Long enrolled in UCLA to study the writing and producing aspects of
the business. He pledged to learn all he could about physical production, casting, post, distribution, theatrical, VOD, PPV streaming, and financing.
Long’s first break in the business came when he was cast in a supporting role.in legendary director/producer, John Hughes’ film Newport South sharing
the silver screen with Melissa George, Raymond J. Barry, Michael Shannon and Will Estes. Impressed by Long’s raw talent, Hughes told the young artist
to use his name as a reference to secure an agent. This opportunity was the confidence Long needed to take his career to the next level. With dreams of
success, his journey burned on.
E! Style Network booked Long for the hit show Clean House, where he and the cast earned an EMMY nomination in the “Best Ensemble” category.
Long gave a chilling performance in the award-winning Showtime film, Mississippi Damned directed by Tina Mabry starring Tessa Thompson, and co-
starred with Mekhi Phifer in the romantic comedy, Love Section. He also co-created and executive produced a reality show which chronicles the life of
A-list video director, Taj Stansberry.
