started in the year 2001. Presently DAVIET has 9 Departments catering to six
undergraduate programmes, 4 M.Tech. programmes, MBA and MCA. There are about
2200 students on rolls with 110 faculty members. The academic research work of
DAVIET faculties has been commendable with more than 1000 publications and three
patents. The booming research and innovative teaching culture of the institute
necessitates proactively exploring and bringing to light the treasure of Intellectual
Property Rights (IPR) that can benefit the faculty and research scholars of the region.
In general, Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) is concerned with the protection of
tangible and intangible property (knowledge commodity, information technology,
etc). It provides material awards and recognition to the inventors and contributors for
their investment. Hence, it enhances motivation to disseminate scientific and
technological information which in turn stimulates research and development for
improvement of the quality of life.
In this direction, institute has constituted a Research, Innovation & Consultancy Cell
(RIC) to facilitate the research scholars and the faculty with the opportunities to
explore the research areas and grow their research quotient. The RIC of the institute
now extend its assistance to enable and guide the patent filing by the stakeholders of
the institute and to take necessary step to promote the IPR culture in campus. In this
background, to develop awareness among young research scholars and faculty
members, one day “Awareness workshop on IPR & Patent Filing” has been arranged.
Experts from IPR fields have been solicited to deliver thematic talks to take us through

The deliberation in the workshop will cater to the two themes with following broad objectives.
