ECONOMIC ISSUES / CONCERNS

POSITIVE IMPACTS STRATEGIES TO ENHANCE POSITIVE IMPACTS

1. Job Fairs and Employment Services Facilitate job fairs and provide career
counseling sessions to establish connections
between those seeking employment and
prospective employers. Collaborate with
nearby enterprises and staffing firms to
streamline the process of connecting
individuals with suitable employment
opportunities and securing their placement.

2. Access to Basic Service Ensure equal access to fundamental services,


including education, healthcare, water,
sanitation, and energy, without any
discrimination based on income or social
standing. Allocate resources towards the
enhancement of infrastructure development
and service delivery systems to enhance the
accessibility and quality of fundamental
services in areas that are currently lacking in
such provisions.

3. Healthcare Access Promote affordable and high-quality


healthcare services for all residents,
particularly those in poverty. This includes the
enlargement of healthcare facilities, the
provision of health insurance coverage, and

the implementation of health promotion and


illness preventive programs.

1. Unemployment and Underemployment During periods of economic decline, there is a


higher likelihood of job losses and limited job
prospects, which in turn contribute to
increased rates of unemployment and
underemployment. This might result in
economic instability and place a burden on
households.

2. Poverty Economic factors might worsen the levels of


poverty inside the city. Many families face
difficulties affording essential needs such as
sustenance, shelter, and medical treatment,
resulting in a deterioration of their living
conditions and overall welfare.

3. Health Impacts Indirect health consequences might also arise


from economic difficulties. Limited healthcare
access resulting from financial restrictions
might result in untreated illnesses and
heightened vulnerability to diseases.
Moreover, the stress and anxiety associated
with financial insecurity might exert
detrimental impacts on one's mental well-
being.

2. Solid Waste Management Enhance the efficiency of solid waste


management systems to deter the act of
littering and the unauthorized disposal of
rubbish into water bodies. Encourage trash
segregation at its origin, recycling,
composting, and appropriate disposal of solid
waste to minimize the quantity of waste
entering aquatic bodies via runoff and direct
disposal.

3. Climate Change Adaptation Integrate climate change adaptation


considerations into flood risk management
techniques to tackle shifting precipitation
patterns, rising sea levels, and other climate-
related issues. Perform vulnerability
assessments, engage in scenario planning,
and utilize risk modeling techniques to
predict and prioritize adaptation measures
for future flood hazards.

complications among people.

2. Water Pollution The waterways in Las Piñas City can be


contaminated by industrial discharge,
untreated sewage, and poor garbage
disposal. Water pollution has adverse effects

on both aquatic ecosystems and human


health. This is because contaminated water or
seafood can be consumed, leading to
potential concerns for human well-being.

3. Flood Risk The risk of floods in Las Piñas City can be


intensified by deforestation, bad land use
planning, and inadequate drainage
infrastructure, particularly during periods of
heavy rainfall. Flooding has the potential to
cause harm to infrastructure, residences, and
commercial establishments, as well as to
disrupt traffic and pose threats to public
safety.
