Compare and Contrast Essay Guidelines # GC Topic: You will be writing a compare and contrast essay on one of the following five topics. Compare or contrast two types of technology. Compare or contrast two cultures. Compare or contrast two important people that you admire. Compare or contrast two movies/books. Compare or contrast a topic of your choice (must be approved by the teacher) WARNS You may ONLY choose one of the topics. You may choose to only compare or contrast the topics, or you can do both, Make sure that your essay includes the following: * an introduction which contains your thesis statement. Your thesis should be specific; it should only cover the aspects that you will discuss in your essay and should be supported with specific evidence that you will provide in your body paragraphs. © three body paragraphs containing an adequate number of examples and details that support your thesis. Each body paragraph should contain a topic sentence that clearly outlines the subject of the paragraph. You need to incorporate at least one source in each paragraph to support your points * aconelusion containing a final restatement of your thesis and a brief recap of your main points and ideas. © appropriate transitions linking your paragraphs and ideas together. Research: You must use at least 2 resources in your essay to find the necessary information to support your ideas and provide valid examples. These sources can be found online using the Google search engine. You may look at different newspaper websites, such as the BBC, The Guardian, The New York Times, and other reputable media outlets, or you may look at different company websites. You must cite your sources using APA citation. Formatting: Your final draft must be typed.
