“I will risk my life for you, as your husband.” Derek said on his soft crying voice.

He snatched
my unconscious left hand and slowly wore a ring on my ring finger.

It was the picture of us on our wedding; I am staring that is nailed on the wall in our living room.
I sat on the couch and sagged myself with the wine. While Derek is out for tonight.

It was mid-summer on 8th of July, Derek was standing on the altar, crying while watching at me
walking on the aisle with the fresh bouquet of white roses. I grip the bouquet out of nervousness,
upon taking my small leap with my heavy wedding gown, walking on the aisle. It was the time I
could not lose my sight of Derek while walking on the aisle to the altar.

His soft smile fervent face, wiping off my tears with his soft hands, caresses my face as he holds
my hands and walks with him to the altar.

These were the times we started to tie our knots and create our own family. Our exchanges of
vows were still painted on my heart, but it was destiny that taught me the reality. When I
realized, Derek did not have the same feelings for me anymore.

I poured wine into my empty glass. And sagged myself again with it, who was trying to forget
everything that kept beating my wounded heart.

8:00 o’clock in the morning.

“Diane?” an indistinct voice wakes me.

It was Sarah from the door with two young strangers. I am taking my nap after I cannot sleep
early at night, and also because of a hangover.

“Would you make some coffee?” I asked Sarah while she put a bunch of folders on my desk.

“Oh, anyway. These are the interns for our department for two weeks.” She said before, she left
and closed the door, leaving these two strangers in my office.

I signed to them to take a seat, while it took me several seconds to speak. Trying to pass on my
morning migraine.

“Are you okay, ma’am?” A young woman said on her cherry-colored hair.

“Yeah, I am fine.” I replied, taking my very deep breath. “You are the interns right? These are
the folders you have to arrange accordingly, I’ll check it after two hours.” I handed to them the
bunch of folders and left them in my office.

I cannot wait long for Sarah to make coffee. I have to take my medicine for this morning
migraine event.

Sarah was startled when I passed behind her from the door. She is still making coffee, and I go
directly to the medicine cupboard.

“Derek didn’t went home again.” I said, take the pill for my migraine and sit on the counter
while waiting for her to make coffee.

Sarah has been my best friend since I worked on this Law Firm for five years. We had been
friends three months prior to our wedding. She knows every detail about my situation I suffered
from Derek. It is worth my entire life to trust them.

“What he have done? It cost your marriage.” She handed me mildly hot coffee before sitting on
the table. She opened her breakfast, waffle with its honey top, and lettuce with mayo.
“No, what he have done cost our child.” I replied. I can now feel the lightness of my head after I
took the pill. “And Derek doesn’t care about it.” And sip the coffee.

“Did you try looking for his OTHER WOMAN?” Sarah quoted. This was my largest mistake in
our relationship. I didn’t acted to it. When it is my chance to get him, caught, and cornered.
However, I did not feel the same.

Our marriages are at stake. No one could ever heal it, only us. But the same thought I am
thinking right now compared to the reality I do not have guts. It’s Derek, and I knew him.

“That was your mistake. You let that Derek, cheat on you.” She said, trying to blame me.

“No, Sarah!” I sat in front of her and stole a piece of cake as I felt hungry. I have not eaten my
breakfast this morning because I woke up too late. I do not even see Chloe going to school. “I am
not sure Derek cheated on me. I am just feeling the vibes on uncomfortable.” He went home late,
sometimes drunk, tired, and asleep. He is making our relationship with the entire surroundings
cold.
