H OW TO WANT

from a place of abundance

At some point in your life, you’ve made a “wish
list” of what you want for Christmas, a birthday,
or even a wedding/baby registry. But, when was
the last time you made a wish list of what you
want in YOUR LIFE?

At some point in your life, you’ve made a “wish list” of what you want for Christmas, a birthday, or
even a wedding/baby registry. But, when was the last time you made a wish list of what you want in
YOUR LIFE?

If I asked you to simply make a list of things you want, you’d probably make a list of things you want
that you DON’T currently have. Thing you need to have, things you hope could someday happen.
But, did you know you can want for the things you already have too? Let me say that again… you
can want what you already have.

Most people only allow themselves to want from a place of scarcity — coming from lack and worry.
So, when you dream from this energy, it’s a reminder that you don’t have what you want, which of
course, just bums you out. So, step one, is to want from a place of abundance and possibility.

On August 8th of 2017, I made a list of 30 things that I want after listening to an awesome episode
of The Life Coach School Podcast. In this episode, Brooke Castillo tells you to make a list of 25
things you want with the rule that every other thing should be something you already have. So, my
list of 30 things ended up being 15 things I have already and 15 things I don’t have yet.

I allowed myself to really dream about those things I don’t have. I tried to honor my dreams over my
doubts and just write it down even if it didn’t seem feasible.

For the things I want but already have, I choose to really practice gratitude. But, even more than
gratitude, I held an energy of DESIRE. I considered those things in my life that I WANT SO
BADLY. But, that already exist for me! What a refreshing moment to realize that so much of what I
really desire in my life was already in existence.

I found this list in my journal last night. And guess what wild thing happened? As I started reading
through it, I realized that of the wants that I didn’t have, over half of them have now happened.
OVER HALF. And, you guys, let me clarify… these were desires for my entire life, not for the
following year. Some of these desires felt “too impossible” to write down. Too unlikely to happen,
but I wrote them anyway!

As Brooke Castillo says, “If we listen to our desires, they will lead us to a life where we feel the most
alive.” I believe this and see this in my own journey.

Write down 30 things you want. Every other thing should be something you already have in your
life. Let yourself actually dream. When you think of something that feels too crazy to ever actually
happen, your brain will tell you not to write it down. Dreaming big ignites our doubts, and because
of this we often want to just not dream at all. Resist that. Remember that by listening to our
desires, they will lead us to a life where we feel the most alive. So, listen. Write. Even though you
don’t have a game plan yet. Even though you think it’s impossible… write it down anyway.

Here’s a sampling from my list as an example to you:

1. I want to be married to someone I love deeply.
2. I want to launch a successful, profitable passive income stream.
3. I want to live in an exciting city.
4. I want to speak at a business event.
5. I want to have the freedom to create my own schedule.
6. I want to travel outside of the U.S.

All of those things have happened, literally within 18 months after writing them down. I wrote 30
things down following this pattern. I resisted the question my brain asked of “Well, how are ya
gonna do THAT!?” and I wrote it down anyway.

Allow yourself to want. Allow yourself to dream about the future. Quit reacting, and start
CREATING. When you’re ready to get started, to dream bigger, go to the next page.
Find a quiet space, put your technology away, and start wanting.

What I want
I am allowing myself to want. I am allowing myself to dream about my future.
I am going to quit reacting and start creating today.

Cheers to you! You just spoke your dreams out loud and back to yourself. Now, hold onto
the list. Look back at it often, expand on it, and keep writing past 30 things if you think of
more. Do this exercise often in order to stay dreaming and desiring!
