In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, cycling activity suddenly became rampant
in society. On roads that are deserted due to physical restrictions, there are now
many cyclists. Because in the midst of this pandemic we are also encouraged to
exercise and cycling is the most preferred option. because we have to keep each
other distance and cycling is the right choice. And it allows us to keep our
distance and be outside the room. In the midst of the rise of cyclists, of course,
bicycle sales are increasing. for example Van Mood reported sales spikes of 138%
in the United States and 184% in the UK and many more. There are interesting
facts about the OECD Graph. The study found that the number of collisions
decreased as the volume of cyclists increased. The study obtained data that the
mortality rate for cyclists, namely the Netherlands, with the highest number of
cyclists, is quite low. And vice versa the country with the most deaths is the
United States with the lowest volume of cyclists on the road. What happens with
the above phenomenon may be because cycling is relatively safe because the
cyclist's speed is not too high and makes the road safer, on the contrary, when
there are few cyclists it means that the volume of vehicles is dominated by
motorbikes and cars which allow them to speed on the road and make them prone
to accidents resulting in death. To make roads safer and to create safer spaces for
cyclists, perhaps the government should improve the infrastructure of cyclists and
add road signs to keep other riders in control of their riding
