EXPERIMENT # 04: Creating Ladder Diagrams in WinProLadder


and Interfacing it with PLC

Objectives:
After performing this Lab, you will be able to:

1. Create Simple Ladder Diagram in WinProLadder.


2. Interface WinProLadder with PLC 100 Trainer
3. Upload and Run Ladder Diagram in PLC 100 Trainer

Installation of Prolific USB to Serial Converter Driver:

1. Double-click the PL-2303 Windows Driver Installer program.


2. The Prolific driver will ask you to install the PL-2303 USB-to-Serial driver will be installed
on your computer.
3. The PL2303 Driver Installer program will now install the Prolific drivers.
4. Now close the installer program when it is installed.
5. Now check the driver check for the “Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port” device in Device
Manager as shown in Figure 4.1.
6. Note Down the port number “COM3” in device manager.

Creating a Ladder Diagram in WinProLadder:

Now create a new Ladder diagram in WinProLadder to be uploaded in PLC as shown in


Figure 4.2.

Uploading Ladder Diagram to PLC:

1. Go to File > Save As > To PLC as shown in Figure 4.3

2. Click on Edit button and Check the Port No. here COM1 is selected that is different from
our COM3 port as mentioned in Device Manager.

3. The updated Port “COM3” is shown in Figure 4.5.

4. Go to menu PLC > Run PLC or press F9 run your Program in PLC as shown in Figure 4.6.

5. Go to View > Register Content or press F11 to view the updated contents of registers on
runtime as shown in Figure 4.7.

6. Go to menu PLC > Stop PLC or press Ctrl + F9 to stop PLC.

Lab Task:
Attach the snapshot of running Ladder Diagram as shown in Figure 4.7.
