Main interface
General parameters
The top bar of the screen displays the output level
meter, mono/stereo switch and the help menu that will
let you access this manual, the website and our online
contact form.
The four signs on the left let you select four basic inner
presets that will give you different flavors of fuzz. Each
features different gain and biasing degree.
Effect parameters
Like the original pedal it emulates, Brass Buster is
organised as follows :
A preamp stage clips the signal a bit. Preamp output is
sent into the distortion stage which is pretty complex. It
fuzzes the sound, filters it, and rectifies it in a rather
weird way. Sensitivity let you set the volume of the
preamp stage signal sent into the distortion stage.

This sound is then sent to a filter stage that basically is
a bandpass filter. “Brass” switch let you change the
frequency of this filter. “Harmonic” let you mix that
filtered sound to the distortion stage raw output (“2”
position).
Then the result of this is sent into the final amp stage,
aside the preamp signal. “Brass volume” let you set the
amount of distorted signal in the mix, “Bass volume” let
you set the amount of preamp signal in the mix.
The ability to mix distorted signal to the clean signal is
what makes this distortion especially interesting on bass
guitar.
It also makes it pretty interesting on keyboards, as the
clean signal let chords pass through better than pure
distortions.
The “harmonic” switch gives two very different signal,
and makes this distortion pretty versatile.
The sensitivity knob is very important, and because the
distortion stage is so weird, you can get very different

sounds depending on how much sensitivity you set. Very

low sensitivity will give some kind of ring modulated

sounds, and as you increase it, some unevenness will be
introduced, making the rectification less pure, and so the
ring mod feel less present, ring mod tone being VST Plugin technology by Steinberg
