REVISED SETHI DHARKOT WATER SUPPLY SCHEME

District : Nainital
Tehsil : Betalghat
Block : Betalghat
TECHNICAL STATEMENT
1. POPULATION :-
Assuming that all the works of proposed scheme will be complited upto march 2023, the base of the
scheme has been kept as 2023. Base year and design year have been kept as 2023 and 2053 respectively, assuming scheme
shall be commissioned by the year of 2023 and considering design period as 30 years The base year population has been
projected taking same growth rate as of the tehsil Betalghat growth rate during last decade ‘2001-2011' that is 1.1062 per
person per year. The base year 2023 population has been calculated by increasing 2011 population @ 1.1062 person per person
per year and the ultimate design year 2053 population has been calculated by increasing the base year population by 32%, as per
design criteria circulated by the Executive Engineer (SWAp) Uttarakhand PeyJal Nigam, Dehradun vide his letter No 700 /
SWAp samanya baithak dated 23/10/2007 and latest instructions given by Joint Executive Officer, S.W.S.M. Dehradun vide his
ltr. no. 668/N-574/2019-20 Dated: 27.11.2019.
The base year 2023 and design year 2053 population of the habitations covered in this scheme comes out to 945 and 1247

In view of Government of india that house connection shall be provided to each and every rural house hold till March 2024,
the rate of water supply has been adopted as 55 lpcd as per JJM Guide Line circulated by Govt of India in February 2020 . In
additional to this, 15 % over rate of water supply has been taken for unaccounted of water as per latest design criteria.

2. DESIGN CRITERIA -
The design criteria adopted in this scheme is as per the circular of Chief Engineer, (PPRD), Uttar
Pradesh Jal Nigam Lucknow , vide his office letter No. 267/PPRD- Design Criteria Dated 25.07.2002 and circulated by Chief

6 SOURCE OF WATER-
One Nos. of Old Source of water namely as Dharikot gadhera,Nigunia ,Masao, Niguni and Kota
Dhuria Gadhera are proposed as water sources of the water supply. As per local enquiry these water sources are
parranial and undi. sputed to be tapped at proposed tapping points . It is also inquired that no other water supply scheme
has been made or proposed upto two kms distance in down stream as well as up stream from the propoesd tapping point
of the sellected water sources for this water supply scheme. Lean period discharge of proposed water sources have
been recorded. Source wise recorded discharge, name of officials who measured the disharge and safe tapable quantity
of recorded discharge are given as tabulated below -

As per above table the proposed source discharge is more than sufficient to feed the design population . Hence,
adopted sources are safe and edequate.

9 Treatment Work -
A Filtration and Sedimentation -
Treatment works are proposed according available quality of water of the sources. In
hilly terrons , mostly water of the sources except Rivers and long Running water Cources are remain clear all around
the year . Proposed sources under this water supply scheme are being the Springs and short running water cources
nature as well as departmental norms and practice, SCC cum Roughening Filter is sufficient to rough filtration of water.
Hence SCC cum Roughening Filter of following size of filtation area are proposed to be constructed as per
departmental type design as detailed given tabulated below -

It is proposed to disinfect the water before supplying in the distribution system by chlorinating. Bucket type gravity feed
bleaching powder solution doser of 25 liters capacity is proposed to be installed for chlorinating. It is proposed to
administer a dose of 0.5 ppm of chlorine so that 0.20 ppm residual chlorine is available at the farthest end of the
distribution system. The requirement of bleaching powder is calculated below, assuming that 25%chlorine will be
available in the bleaching powder. Annual average production of water has been taken as 75% of annual requirement.
For "Q" KL per day requirement of water (as shown in water demand para ) bleaching powder requirement will be
= (Q*365*0.75*0.5*100) /(1000*25 )
= (0.5475*Q ) Kg. Per year.
The total quantity of bleaching powder has been tabulated below.

10 SUPPLY MAIN AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM -

Supply Main for 24 hours supply of water from Source to water treatment and again water
treatment to Storage reservoir i.e., C W R has been designed at average flow while Distribution network has been
designed at peak flow taking peak factor as "3". G I (medium) pipe has been proposed for pipe line of supply main as
well as Distribution system. Hazen willium's formula has been used for designing the size of pipe line. Vaue of 'C' , i.e.
Hazen willium Co-efficient is taken as '100' for G I (medium) New Pipe. Use of existing pipe line has also been
considered in the present system with modified value of " C " 51,51,68 and 71 Minimum size of pipe in supply main
and distrbution system is kept as 25 mm Ø and 20 mm Ø respectively . It has been checked that pressure in pipe line is within
the safe working pressure of respective G I (M) pipe . Terminal pressure at junctions , SCC/RF , CWRs and each & every House
Hold Connection is kept as prescribed by departmental norms . For efficient maintenance of the system Air valve , Wheel valve/
Gate vave , Scoure valve and ferrule etc have been provided at suitable places. Provision of pipe & fitting has been made in this
estimate as per details given Pipes and fitting Statement chapter.
