The 5,6 & 7Leadership Handbook

For leaders who want to lead boldly in times of uncertainty & create a legacy

HARSH JOHARI
EXECUTIVE & CHANGE LEADERSHIP COACH
INTRODUCTION

Leading teams and organizations in times of

uncertainty is not easy.

In 2020, you were pulled into a crisis the world had

never seen before.

There was no reference point. No playbook. No

models or frameworks to fall back to.

But you did well so far. You adjusted, managed to

keep your teams engaged and “keep the lights on”.

Managing expectations from multiple stakeholders

in these testing times would not have been easy. At
the end of the day, you might be feeling the strain.

Are there times when you feel totally stretched and

overwhelmed with all that is happening around? Or
maybe worried about your own future?

It’s totally understandable and natural to feel that

way.

But remember, it is not over as yet. Every crisis

brings new opportunities.

How do you show up now will make all the

difference – to you and in your business

Now is the time to take total control. Show up

powerfully. All this while remaining grounded.

Presenting the 5, 6 & 7 Handbook for leaders like

you who want to leave a strong legacy behind.

PAGE 2
5 things NOT to do
1
Remain caught in the past. What has worked in the past will not work in
the future. Period.

2
Be closed to trying out new ideas. New thinking is the need of the hour.

3
Miss the big picture thinking. You might have been a functional expert, but
now more than ever, it is time to rise up & think beyond functional
boundaries.

4
Get caught in numbers. While results are important, so are people. If you
lack empathy and are not able to connect authentically with your teams, you
will eventually lose the trust and respect.

5
Running around non-stop without a pause. Learn to manage self. Everyone
has been stretched in these times, and you are not an exception. You don’t
want to head towards a burnout.

PAGE 3
6 abilities to develop
1
To act & take decisions swiftly. Not waiting forever. Act, learn and move on.

2
To focus more on outcomes, rather than just execution. Don’t get caught in
day to day too much. Busy does not always mean productive.

3
To connect and build trust, despite not being physically present.

4
To adapt and change, despite knowing just how difficult it might be

5
To let go. Let go of control, old habits, old ways of working and thinking

6
To use your creative imagination for problem solving. No frameworks and
models

PAGE 4
7 things which are OK for a
leader to do

1
Asking and seeking help

2
Admitting you don’t have all the answers

3
Practicing self-care. Teams are important. So are you

4
Ditching complex management frameworks. Get down to basics

5
Taking breaks to reflect. Sometimes, slowing down helps in speeding up

6
Admitting you made a mistake. We all do. We are humans. Learn from it

7
Letting teams be on their own. You don’t have to be around 24x7. Build trust
