A1. Peer-peer when security is not an issue , the number of pc are less than 10 and their is no future
expansion of the network.

Performance Test

Project Title: Building a server based local area network ( LAN)


Task 1

You are required to build a LAN which will enable client computers to access
server resources. You are also requested to create one organizational unit with
two groups and each group having two users named ETVET as organizational
unit, IT and Finance as groups name and Student and Instructor under IT group
and Audit and Purchase under Finance group. In order to build this, follow the
instruction below:

A. Check the status of each device and fix if there is any problem.

B. Crimp cables and test it by using network cable tester.

C. Install server 2003 operating system, drivers and give an IP


192.168.1.1for the server.
D. Connect server, and client computer to the switch.
E. Verify connection( check the connectivity)
F. Install active directory service and give Entoto.com as a domain name.
G. Create Student, Instructor (under IT group), Audit and Purchase
users (under Finance group) use password P@55W0rd for all
users.)
H. Install a printer on the server
I. Resolve DHCP (starting IP 192.168.1.10 and Ending IP
192.168.1.20)
J. Log into the client computer by Student user and add network printer
from the server.

Task 2

After connecting the Server and the client you have to secure your network
resources using group policy, antivirus and firewall.
1. Install anti virus
2. Enable firewall on the client computer. Make sure it won’t affect your
other services in your network.

3. Disable password complexity requirement and make minimum password
length 4 characters.

Task 3

Let’s assume that you are an administrator of this network you build and you
want to share some valuable data.
Instruction
1. Give print full permission to IT and deny to Finance group
2. Create folder by the name Assessment on the server and share it with full
permission to Instructor user and deny it for Student.

assessment folder you have created
