ABSTRACT

This study was entitled “Utilization of Spiral Progression Approach: An

Assessment”. This involved six teachers in English at Rosario Technical High School. This study aimed to
gather respondents’ profile and assess their level of utilization of Spiral Progression Approach in terms
of reading skills, writing skills, listening skills, and speaking skills. This study also aimed to determine the
significant difference of the level of utilization of Spiral Progression when grouped according to profile
variables and the challenges do teachers in English encounter in terms of the implementation of Spiral
Progression Approach

The researchers made use of descriptive research design with a quantitative

approach which seemed suitable to the study and the main gathering instrument was the adapted
standardized questionnaire. The statistical tools used were frequency, percentage, weighted mean,
ranking, and scoring.

All of the respondents were female, most of them were aged 28-34, and some of them were having 11-
20 years of teaching in public school. In terms of educational attainment, most of them were got with
units in Master’s Degree, and they attended trainings in Spiral Progression Approach for 0-2 and more
than 8 trainings. At reading skills, writing skills, listening skills, and speaking skills, most of the
respondents fall under the great extent level of utilization of Spiral Progression Approach. This study
indicatedthat there was no significance difference between the levels of Utilization of Spiral Progression
when grouped according to profile variables. Moreover, the study revealed that the teachers seldom
encounter the challenges in the implementation of spiral progression approach.

This study suggested that the teachers must be monitored and assessed in terms of the utilization of
Spiral Progression Approach. There must be training programs such as trying out the researchers’ output
in order to attain the target objectives.
