After the collision the two cars slide, with locked wheels, before coming to rest. Police on
the scene measure the length d of the skid marks. The coefficient of friction μk between the
locked wheels and the road is equal to 0.7.

6. A cylinder of radius R and mass m with a long thin rod of length 5R and mass 0.24m welded to
one end is placed on rails that are inclined at the angle 300 as shown in the diagram.

B) If the object starts at rest how far down the rails has it rolled when the speed of the centre of
