The recent attacks on commercial vessels in the area are alarming and pose a significant threat to the safety and lives of seafarers, as well as the functionality of global trade. Following the near-miss incident involving Maersk Gibraltar on Thursday 14 December 2023 and yet another attack on a container vessel on Friday 15 December 2023, we have instructed all Maersk vessels in the area bound to pass through the Bab al-Mandab Strait to pause their journey until further notice. We are monitoring the situation constantly and retrieving all available intellige the security situation in the area.
