Bias and Prejudice

Bias
- Inclination of towards or against a person, idea, or a thing.
- Often in an unfair way and leads to injustice
Prejudice
- Form of judging an opinion before having all of the relevant facts or w/o prior knowledge
- Often leads to discrimination

Structures of Poetry
Free Verse
- Poem style that does not strictly adhere or follow a set of pattern,rhyme, or meter.
Structured/Formal Poems
- Follow a conventional format with a consistency in form, rhythm, meter, syllable, and etc.
Sonnet
- A single or two line stanza lyric poem written in 14 lines
Limerick
- Poems with subject usually derived from comical content and five line rhyming of AABBA
Quatrain
- Four line stanza poems
Haiku
- Japanese poem with three line syllable pattern of 5,7,5
Tanka
- Japanese poem with three line syllable pattern of 5,7,5,7,7
Ballads
- Narrative poems celebrating a hero and his deeds
- Always narrates stories
- They use everyday language, usually brief, conveyed partly with inclusion of dialogue
Free Iambic Verse
- Has an irregular number of feet in a line, and its verses are differing lengths
Visual Poetry
- Poems that combines poetry and imagery
Cadence
- Refers to unusual falling or rising of rhythm, pitch, and voice in a poem

Types of Evidences
Statistical
- Involves numbers and statistics, where usually done in survey form
Testimonial
- It comes from a person’s testimony or statement, where usually used in advertising or
promotion
Anecdotal
- Based on personal experience and observation, counters common misconception
Analogical
- It defines the unknown, weakest type of evidence
