Prisoner's Sonnet

Author: Jose Garcia Villa

In the darkness of the dungeon, I reside,
Confined within these walls of stone and steel,
My spirit bound, my freedom crucified,
Yet in my heart, the flame of hope I feel.

Though they have taken all that I hold dear,

My dignity, my voice, my liberty,
They cannot quench the fire that burns so clear,
The fire of justice, truth, and unity.

For though my body may be locked away,

My thoughts and dreams will never be confined,
And though my enemies may have their day,
The truth will triumph, and I will not mind.

For even in the darkest depths of night,

The flame of freedom burns forever bright.
