Overview
Welcome to the Origami Club, where creativity meets precision! In this 12-week journey, students
will dive into the fascinating world of origami, the art of paper folding. Our club is open to all
students from grades 9 through 12, and no prior experience is needed. Students will learn and
teach others how to fold origami and share this unique art form. Students will discover a new or
already enjoyed leisure activity that can also improve spatial learning.

Weekly Plan

Week 1-2: Introduction to Origami


● Icebreaker activity: Get to know each other while folding a simple origami model.
● Basic folds and terminology: Teach essential folds like valley and mountain folds.
● Vocabulary: Paper, fold, crease, origami, square, etc.
● Project: Create simple origami animals or objects.
Week 3-4: Intermediate Origami Skills
● Review basic folds.
● Introduce more complex folds.
● Vocabulary: Crane, frog, boat, flower, etc.
● Project: Fold intermediate-level models like a jumping frog or a paper crane.
Week 5-6: Themed Origami
● Choose a theme (e.g., nature, space, or animals).
● Learn models related to the chosen theme.
● Vocabulary: Theme-related words.
● Project: Create a themed origami display.
Week 7-8: Modular Origami
● Teach the concept of modular origami.
● Vocabulary: Module, assemble, connect, etc.
● Project: Construct modular origami structures like a cube or a star.
Week 9-10: Origami Challenges
● Pose creative challenges to the students.
● Vocabulary: Challenge, creativity, design, etc.
● Project: Students design and fold their unique origami models.
Week 11-12: Final Project and Showcase
● Work on a more advanced origami model.
● Prepare a showcase for the school or parents.
● Vocabulary: Showcase, demonstrate, present, etc.
● Project: Fold an advanced origami model for the showcase.
