Similar to what we have learned in Session 4, in order to achieve high bandings in


“Grammatical Range and Accuracy” in IELTS speaking, not only you will need to have
error-free sentences, but you also need a range of sentence structures with flexibility. In

What are the tips?


1. Record yourself speaking
2. Listen back sentence by sentence
3. Raising awareness about different grammar errors
4. Spotting the common weaknesses (e.g. the wrong use of verb tense, the missing
of articles, etc.)

E: Okay. First of all, I'd like to ask you some questions about yourself. Let's talk about
what you do. Do you work or are you a student?
S: I’m still a student and learning in Hong Kong U Educ, the Education University of
Hong Kong.

E: What subject do you study?


S: I study in the Chinese educations.
E: Why?
S: Because I would like to be a teacher in the future and I'll enjoy the … the … the pro,
the progress of the teaching.
E: Why?
S: When I had the … when I talk with the student, I feel very … I enjoy this moment
because the student can learn some knowledge in my course and, and then I can think
some method to let them to learn something they don't know.
E: Thank you. Let's talk about free time activities now. What do you like to do in
your free time?

S: I love it. I love to reading book in my free times or in some … in weekend I would
like to do some physical exercise such as running because I enjoy running, it’s let me
to relax in my, after my da, daily work.
E: Do you prefer to spend most of your free time indoors or outdoors?
S: Art, artworks.
E: Why?
S: Because I enjoy the art, artworks because it's made me think a lot about what is
beautiful. When I'm reading or when I seeing some pictures in the museum, I feel relax
and I, and I would like to … I enjoy this moment because it's make me feel relax and
quiet … feel quiet.

E: What did you like to do in your free time when you were a child?
S: When I'm child, I usually go to the McDonald's to eat some … eat the chips, and,

E: What do you plan to do in your free time this weekend?


S: This weekend? I would, I will, I will go to watching, I will going, I will go to watch
the movie.

E: Let's talk about travel. Do you like to travel?


S: I love to travel.
E: Why?
S: Because travel can let me have a wide, wide seeing and when travel, I can see a lot I
haven't see before. Such as I go to China, I have travel in China, I have learn … I can
learn about many culture things in China. Because when I living in Hong Kong, I, I …
many Chinese culture is, is not very traditional. And so I would like to go travel
because I would like to see more things I haven't … I don't know yet.
