ABSTRACT

ADNAN ANHUM Estimation of Carbon Potential in Production Forest Areas by

Utilizing Remote Sensing Technology in Nambo District. Supervised by SITTI
MARWAH as first supervisor and SAHINDOMI BANA as second supervisor.

This study aims to create a model for estimating the potential of carbon stocks
and knowing the estimated carbon stock in the production forest area in Nambo
District. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is used as a
variable of vegetation density in production forest areas. In this study, a direct
measurement of diameter at breast height was carried out in the field to
determine the biomass of the production forest area. Regression analysis was
conducted to determine the relationship between NDVI density and biomass
measured in the field. The result of this research is the estimated value of carbon
stock in the production forest area in Nambo District of 396,02 tons in 2020. The
regression equation obtained from this study to estimate the carbon stock in the
production forest area in Nambo District is y = -0,784 + 1,103x, with an R2 value
of 66%.
