WAVE ENERGY

Introduction:

In harnessing ocean waves' kinetic energy, wave energy converters (WECs) employ various designs like oscillating water
columns and point absorbers. These devices convert mechanical motion into electrical energy through generators for grid
transmission.

Function:

Ocean waves provide a consistent and vast energy potential, making wave energy an abundant resource. Moreover, wave
energy production emits no greenhouse gases, minimizing environmental impact. Additionally, wave energy is more predictable
than solarand wind, offering stability in energy production.

Advantages:

Wave energy offers numerous advantages including its abundant resource potential, minimal environmental impact due to zero
greenhouse gas emissions, predictability compared to other renewable sources, and a longer lifespan for wave energy devices,
enhancing energy security.

Disadvantages:

Challenges facing wave energy include high initial costs for installation and maintenance, potential alteration of marine ecosystems
during deployment, intermittency of energy production based on weather conditions, and technological hurdles such as corrosion
resistance and mooring stability.

Future Scope:
Ongoing research aims to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and address environmental concerns, driving wave energy's
commercialization. Advancements in materials science and deployment strategies promise a competitive role for wave energy in
the global energylandscape.
