Bernie Sanders

As we know, 2016 was an important year for the US, because at the end of this year
president ellection would happen. Here, Ralph Nader a lawyer and an amaerican with
llbanon roots politician is explaining from is point of view why Bernie Sanders was
right ti ru as a Democrat. He gave this interview to the washingtonpost.com months
before the presidential election.
Bernie Sander ran for the democratic party, against H.Clinton but he had some issues
within is presidential agenda that made H.Clinton succeed to be the Democratic head
of the country.
Here R.Nader is showing us Bernie Sanders as an ‘’independent canditate’’, which is
very hard for them in general to succeed in the presidential election. However
R.Nader explains that «’’historically, many major movements as abolition, women’s
suffrage, labor have come out of smaller parties that never won national elections,
starting wiht anti slavery Liberrty Party in 1840.’’ In my opinion this might explain why
it can be hard to be a candidate as Bernie sanders because there can be several
important matters to combat for but the majority of people wont imply as much as
expected in radical changes in country like the US.
To conclude, according to my research and R.Nader’ thoughts, these exerpts show
that Bernie is strongly linked to the Democratic Party but as he is an independent, it is
hard for him to attract people. Nowadays, he is a fervent defender of the left wing,
especially in the progressive policy as a better healthcare system or a mandatory
minimum wage. I think he is in such a position that we cannot tell what is his real
political intentions.
