1.2. Content summary

This article discusses about a training session. A group of Army reservists carried
out a most unusual exercise: They trained to remove artifacts from a museum under
threat. The drill was part of the Army Monuments Officer Training program. The
leaders of the program are Colonel Scott DeJesse and Corine Wegener. The purpose of
this program is to preserve cultural heritage objects during times of crisis. The training
began August 3 and ended with a graduation ceremony August 12. About 21 people
took part in the training session. They came from the United States, Europe and the
Middle East. The National Museum of the United States Army is the place for the
training. This is the imaginative story: “This was the story: The Smithsonia Museum is
in the country of Pinelandia. It was about to be attacked by enemy forces. Pinelandia's
president asked military cultural experts to help. The museum had to remove its
priceless collection.”. They practices with make-believe artifacts for transport during
the five-hour training drill. In short, this article not only discusses about the training
session but also discusses about its value.
