Assembly Of Plywood Formworks for Column

Objective: To outline an effective method of assembling a plywood formwork for
column
Tools & equipment:
1. Circular Saw/Handsaw
2. Power Drill
3. Hammer
4. Spirit Level
5. Carpenter’s Square

Methodology:
1. Lay out the dimension of the column base according to drawings and plans.
2. Cut plywood panels using handsaw or circular saw as required by the
specifications ensuring correct measurements.
3. Assemble the plywood panels around the perimeter of the column base and
secure with nails.
4. Ensure all corners are square and properly aligned.
5. Use bracing materials to maintain vertical alignment and prevent lateral
movement.
6. Assemble additional formwork sections on top of the base formwork to build
up the height of the column.
7. Connect the vertical studs of each formwork section to the ones below using
nails or screws.
8. Use a spirit level to check the alignment of the formwork and ensure it is
plumb
9. Inspect the entire formwork assembly for any defects or weak points.
10. Reinforce any areas where additional support may be needed.
