Method Statement______________________________________________
1. Introduction:

1.1.This method statement describes the specific safe working methods

which will be used by ENCO to carry out the Concrete Placement for
columns; it gives details of how the work will be carried out and what
health and safety issues and controls are involved.

2. Specification clauses and References:

2.1. Specification: Section 03300.

3. Construction equipment:

3.1. Total station.

3.2. Mobile concrete pump.
3.3. Level.
3.4. Flexible pipe 15 cm width.
3.5. Vibrator.

4. Personnel

4.1. Q/C Engineer / Inspector.

4.2. Site Engineer.
4.3. Surveyor.
4.4. Qualified labors (Carpenters, Steel fixers).

5. Health and Safety:

5.1. Maintain safety warning signs and safety warning tapes around the
workplace.
5.2. Provide a safe access for the persons and equipments.

5.3. Assure that all working persons are well known of the safety
instructions and seriously following it.
5.4. Check for clearance of the working place from any other activities.
Method Statement______________________________________________
5.5. Check for damaged concrete weakness, and provide safe method to deal
with.

6. Construction procedures:

6.1. Surveying:
6.1.1. Set out all the coordinate points for Column axis.
6.1.2. Set out the entire coordinate for Column corner points.
6.1.3. Draw the framing lines for the columns.
6.2. Formwork:
6.2.1. ENCO has gained a wealth of expertise in design, fabrication and
installation of various systems of formwork. An internationally
recognized system will be utilized in the project in order to
produce
6.2.2. Concrete with the required quality and within allowable tolerances
in a safe and professional manner.
6.2.3. Formwork quantities have been calculated for the columns and the
time frame allowed in the overall time schedule.
6.2.4. The shuttering will be 25mm thickness softwood with 10 cm
width locally manufactured and steel tie rods.
6.2.5. All carpentry works should be as per the pre-approved shop
drawing and will be full controlled and monitored by the quality
control side.
6.3. Steel Reinforcement:
6.3.1. The Rebar cut/bend will be according to the approved bending
schedules prepared by the engineering team then each bar shall
have a bar mark identifying its location, size and number.
6.3.2. The fabricated steel will be transported when needed according to
the Steel reinforcement transportation schedule and will be placed
in position by using mobile crane, and fixed with Sufficient
numbers of crews according to the drawing.

6.3.3. The reinforcement will be placed on concrete spacers to give the

stated concrete cover as per the specification.
6.3.4. Reinforcement starter bars for the Column will be set out in
accordance to the approved workshop drawings.

6.3.5. All steel works will be controlled by the quality control side.
6.4. Concrete casting:
6.4.1. Concrete will be supplied from one of the nearest batch plant, and
transported to the site in transit mixers with adequate number to
ensure continuous concrete casting with maximum 2 hours
duration.
6.4.2. All concrete for the Columns will be casted one time for the full
height by using a flexible pipe with 15 cm width in order not to
get a concrete segregation.
6.4.3. Regular testing procedures for slump & strength will be carried
out in the attendance of the consultant representative to ensure the
quality of the supplied concrete by an approved laboratory.
6.4.4. Mobile concrete pump will be utilized to cast the concrete of
Columns.
6.5. Curing:
6.5.1. To prevent the Columns from drying shrinkage cracks, wet curing
shall be utilized either by water or using special curing approved
compound.
6.5.2. After striking of the formwork, an approved curing compound
(Kim Cure) will be applied to the fresh concrete or alternatively
the concrete will be kept humid by means of Hessian that are
watered regularly and protected with Polyethylene Sheets to
prevent evaporation.
6.6. Testing:
6.6.1. In addition to the Regular testing procedures for slump and
strength that will be carried out at the batch plant to ensure the
quality of the supplied concrete, similar testing will take place at
the site laboratory established by ENCO in order to ensure quality
and conformity of the supplied concrete.
6.6.2. Concrete test report carried out by the laboratory will be submitted
to the consultant for placement approval.
