1. INTRODUCTION

This Work Method Statement for PVC Conduiting works should be done under the
control of the specification and according to approved shop drawing of the work for
Interior works of the Falcon Lounge- BIA.

2. PURPOSE / SCOPE OF WORK

The purpose of this statement is to define the procedure and method as well as all
Parameters to perform proper way for fixing the conduits as per the scope of works and
approved shop drawings.

As shown in the approved shop drawings.

5.2 Material Details

 PVC glues.
 Round boxes/ 3X3 boxes / 3X 6 boxes.

5.3 Plant and Equipment

6. SEQUENCE / STAGES OF WORK


6.1 Electrical raft conduit work.
1. Ensure first layer of steel works are complete
2. Obtain clearance from civil contractor to proceed with conduiting works.
3. Lay the conduits/accessories as per the approved drawing.
4. Fix the conduits properly by applying approved PVC glue on the surface edges
of the conduit and then join it tightly by approved PVC coupler.
5. The PVC conduits shall be firmly tightened with the steel rebars by using steel
wires.
6. The coupling sides of the conduits shall be tightened with steel wires.
7. The electrical power points shall be raised to a required height within the block
wall reinforcement steel shall be covered and protected by using suitable PVC
tapes to avoid entering of foreign materials during construction activities.
8. All conduiting works shall be tagged for identification of each services/circuits.
9. Ensure the tightness of all conduits prior to casting of the raft.
10. Raise inspection for the raft conduiting works and once the inspection is
approved MEP clearance shall be issued to the civil contractor to proceed with
the concrete pouring.

6.2 Installation of concealed conduit pipes on Block wall/Column

1. Ensure that the civil people have completed the Block wall/Column works and
clearance is given to proceed with the Electrical works.
2. Check the required Reference markings are available for FFL (Finish Floor Level).
3. Ensure that the FFL (Finish Floor Level) is approved by the civil consultant before
proceeding the electrical works on wall.
4. Mark the Location of Switch / Socket /PVC circular box and 20 mm PVC conduit shall
be routed on proper height based on the approved shop drawing in reference to
the marked and approved FFL by others.
5. Ensure the PVC box size and cut the wall /Column to suit the fixing in marked place
of the block wall/column with sufficient depth.
6. Start cutting the marked place for fixing the box and conduit run with the help of
grinder and chip with hammer after cutting.
7. Fix the PVC box of appropriate size (3 x3 / 3 x6 / Junction Boxes) and level with the
help of spirit level. The bottom/ center portion of the box shall match the
consultant approved marked level for switch / socket.
8. Apply cement filler to fix the box properly and leave for setting and insert the
required lengths of conduits on their paths.
9. After setting of Box, connect the dropped conduits for switch / socket to the box
with appropriate PVC adaptors.
10. PVC couplers shall be provided at all joint ends and shall be coupled and tightened
by means of PVC Glue.
11. Make sure that the conduits are not visible from outside their route which could
lead improper plastering.
12. Ensure to raise the inspection request to consultant before the plastering works in
order to obtain the approval.
6.3 Installation of PVC Conduits/Accessories in Slab.

1. Mark the area as per the approved conduiting layout.


2. Mark the location of PVC boxes as per approved conduiting layout.
3. The PVC boxes shall be installed in proper level and rigidly supported by tying
with binding wires along with an reinforcement bars to avoid movement and
damages while concreting.
4. After the first layer of steel works the conduits shall be laid.
5. All conduit runs shall be rigidly supported by binding steel wires tied along with
the reinforcement bars to avoid movement and damages during concreting.
6. During conduit installation 90 degree bends shall be avoided.
7. The conduits laid for the electrical points shall be rigidly tied up by steel wires
along with the steel reinforcement all the conduit stab ends shall be protected
with suitable tape caps to prevent entrance of foreign materials during
construction activities.
8. All conduiting works shall be separately tagged for identification of each
services/circuits.
9. Ensure the tightness of all the conduits prior to casting of the slab.

10. Raise the inspection for slab conduiting works and once the inspection is
approved then MEP clearance shall be issued to the civil contractor to proceed
with the concrete pouring.

7 HEALTH AND SAFETY

HSE Officer is to ensure that all the work requirements are fulfilled .e.g. if required a
job hazard analysis is conducted prior to the start of the activities that
environmental requirements are implemented and all personnel wear the required
PPE.

Personal Protective Equipment


All operatives will wear the following
 Safety shoes whilst working
 Safety helmet
 High visibility vest
 Gloves
 Dust mask
 Ear protection and safety glasses if required
Site rules

All operatives will be informed (via a site induction / toolbox talk) of and
expected to comply with the contractor’s site rules.

8 STORAGE AND HANDLING

All materials used for electrical ring beam piping works shall be stored in approved
and designated storage areas at site.
