MARAFIQ is a Power & Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu, desires to expand IWTP-8 which will be called
Stage-4 with treatment capacity of 125,000m3/day. The plant will be designed to have layout for future Re-use
treatment plant that will further treat 80,000 m3/day of IWTP-8 Stage-4 effluent to meet Demineralization Feed water
quality.

The Expansion project contract is based on a Design, Build and Operate (DBO) concept broken down into an
Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) part and an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) part. The EPC
project duration will be for 36 months from Commencement Date, while the O&M period of the contract will be for 5
years from Initial Acceptance of the Works from MARAFIQ.

1.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE

1.1.1 PURPOSE

The purpose of this Method Statement is to outline the general requirements and precautionary description of the
SS Puddle installation for the IWTP 8 project. The methodology is to describe the systematic procedures,
arrangements and safety measures, which should be followed during works. Contractor will remain responsible to
ensure compliance with all work and safety stipulations/measures as stated in this method statement, the
associated risk assessment. Work will be carried out as per the approved IFC drawings, project specification and
project documents.

1.1.2 SCOPE

This document deals with installation of SS 316L Puddles manufactured by (Vendor TBA) intended for ground
application. It is to be used in conjunction with the Stainless-steel Product Data, Method statements, etc. and is
intended to assist the installer in understanding the requirements and procedures for the successful handling and
installation of SS Puddle flange for above & below ground.

All work done in the scope of contractor will be executed in accordance, but not limited, with the following

4.1 RECEIVING, HANDLING AND STORAGE

SSEM will arrange the shipment of the SS Puddle Flange to EXPANSION OF IWTP-8 STAGE-4 project and unload it
to the project storage area to be ready for arranging Material inspection

SSEM will make the following inspection at the time of reception of the puddle flange:

a. All pipes and fittings should be inspected upon receipt at the job site to ensure that, no damage has occurred
during transport.

b. Any damaged or missing item must be pointed.

c. Materials that have been damaged during transportation should be isolated and stored separately on site until
repaired or replaced.

d. Pipe shall be prepared for shipment in a manner that will protect the pipe wall and joint ends from damage.
Flange faces shall be protected during shipment.

e. Pipes being transported shall be appropriately supported or placed on the wooden cradles or supports in order
to avoid any dislocation and disturbance at bottom cradles.

Note: Damaged or defective material will not be used before it is repaired or replaced.

4.1.3 STORING PIPE ON SITE

All SS material shall be stored in separate area without mixing to any non-SS material.
Avoid placing the pipes where they can be damaged by traffic or blasting operations. If possible, Store pipes on soft
level ground (e.g., sand), timber bearers or sand bag. It is generally advantageous to store pipe on flat timber to
facilitate placement and removal of lifting slings around the pipe.

4.2 INSTALLATION OF PUDDLE FLANGE PIPE.

After finish the Material inspection at project site and approved from the client, SSEM will arrange the installation of
puddle Falange on the following steps

4.2.1- As per approved IFC/Shop drawings, mark the center and invert level of Puddle piece size DN
500 mm on reinforcement /steel bars on water retaining structure. Double check with surveying tools to
identify exact location and orientation as per Piping isometrics or other relevant drawings per IFC
package.

4.2.2- Steel fixing team contractor to bend/remove to clear the exact area for installing puddle pipe
piece.

4.2.3- Once the location is clear, insert puddle pipe piece with Neoprene rubber wrapped around
(figure -P1) and with steel wires in the opening area.

4.2.4-Construction team will keep puddle ring in the center of structure member to provide uniformity of
installation.

4.2.5- pipe penetration piece has No End flanged as per reference Fig.P1, care shall be taken to keep
proper alignment and spacing as per assembly/lamination/ connections as per coordinates and
orientation of other relevant drawings prior to sign-off the work.

4.2.6- Once the puddle piece is in proper location re-check the level and alignment and also provide
temporary support for end pipe to fix the alignment until finish concrete pouring and form works
Provide preliminary clearance to civil steel team to fix the piece with steel rebar as per reference IFC
Dwg. 7200040907-JWWF-15-SD-406 Rev. 0. Double check level, spacing and alignment before
shuttering and after steel rebar’s fixing as per Fig.P2.

4.2.7- Provide final clearance before concrete pouring once shuttering work is completed and a final
cross checking is done.

4.2.8-After pouring concrete SSEM will implement re check again the orientation, level and alignment
to be sure everything is accurate and no any damage during the concrete pouring.

5.0 PLANT & EQUIPMENTS

SSEM will provide the following equipment throughout the project; quantities will be determined by actual site/Store
demand. Equipment will be inspected prior utilizing.

6.0 QUALITY CONTROL AND ASSURANCE

All records relevant to the above procedure will be retained by the Quality Control department in the site office, for
the duration of the project, before being handed over to the Contractor in accordance with the requirements of the
contract documents. Copies of all records will be made and transferred to the Contractor Office where they will be
retained for the guarantee period of the contract.

7.0 SITE HEALTH AND SAFETY

The work will execute in accordance with the approved safety plan. Work permit will obtain prior to any
commencement of work when required and as per our PTW Procedure.

 Ensure work permit is valid and present on workplace.

 Take all the required precaution as per standard.
 Barricade the work area.
 All safety sign board must be visibly posted.
 Ensure that only authorized personnel are within the work area.
