2.0 Introduction:

This procedure is application to AC system installation for the project titled, “ NEW
400/220kV GRID STATION AT RUWAIS”, UAE, contract N-7680

3.0 Significant Hazards identified

4.0 Responsibilities

Main contractor : Hyundai Engineering and Construction

Sub Contractor : Al Inayah EMW LLC
Supervisor:
Supervisor must supervise the site both from work and HSE perspectives. Supervisor must
not proceed if he is in doubt about safe work progress of work. Tool box talk shall be
conducted before start of the activity in which he communicates to his work party the
hazards, precautions and adopted control measure. He must also check their PPE and
communicate the emergency procedures. Supervisor must follow the approved method
statement.

SAFETY OFFICER:
Safety officer must ensure that the HSE plan is implemented. He should inspect the site and
inform the HSE Manager/Project Manager any deviations from the standard practices. He
may conduct a safety briefing in coordination with supervisor over a specific HSE issue.

HSE MANAGER :
HSE-Q manager shall conduct periodic audit of safety and review the procedure at
site
periodically.

PROJECT MANAGER:
Project manager must ensure that appropriate resources are provided for safe delivery of the
work.

5.0 Sequence of Activity with Responsibilities

5..1 RFI shall be raised to Consultant one day prior to start of Extract Fan
installation by Supervisor.

5..2 Supervisor/Foreman and safety officer of Sub contractor and Toshiba

shall be present at site all time during progress of work.

5..3 Site engineer to ensure that the progressing of works is carried out
according to the planned program and as per the approved method
statement.

5..4 To co-operate and ensure implementation of any comments raised by

Consultant.

5..5 To ensure that all equipment and materials required to execute the
works are available according to the planned construction program.

5..6 To co-ordinate with the Site Manager, QC Inspector, Safety Officer and
Foreman for a safe and proper execution of the works.

5..7 To control and maintain all safety measures in coordination with the
Safety Officer.

6.1 Plans/records & job instruction (documents)

Before starting work you must ensure that you have

1. Location of work area

2. Job instruction
3. First AID box
4. Method statement

6.2 Training

Tool Box Talk to be conducted prior to work

6.3 Equipment / Tool

The equipment and tools that will be engaged for the installation of
Extract Fans will be as follows:

 Mobile Crane/Fork lift

 Drilling Machine

 Hammer

 Tool Box for Mechanical

6.4 Materials

Material Handling & Storage

Handling
Loading and unloading of Extract Fans will be carried by mobile
crane/Fork Lift.

Storage
All Extract Fans will be stored in covered storage area the contract
specification and manufacturer’s recommendation shall be the master
Reference for the material handling, storage and transport.

6.5 Preconditions

 Fans shall be installed, as per the specification, manufacturer recommendations

and site conditions.
 Related drawings on the site with approved status.
 Material, accessories and tools shall be on the site.
 Installation provisions, like power supply, auxiliary lighting, etc. shall be in
function.
 All HSE conditions are achieved.
 RFI shall be raised one day prior to start any activity at Grid station by Engineer.

Installation of Extract/Pressurization Fans)

1 Shift the fans to the place of installation in safe manner using hand trolley, fork
lift/crane as applicable. Sufficient manpower will be engaged as required for safe
shifting and installation.

2 Ensure that the correct fan is shifted to the place of installation.

3 Ensure air inlet and outlet connections orientation are as per approved drawings.

4 Fix the flexible duct connector to fan inlet and outlet as per approved
drawings/manufacturer’s instructions.

5 The fan is placed correctly on foundation. (if applicable) at the right location.

6 The fans will be properly leveled and parallel to room walls/other installations.

7 Fans shall be inspected again for any damage during hoisting/shifting and
installation.

8 Clean the interior of the fans.

9 Follow the manufacturer’s instructions while installing the fans.

Checks

The following field-checks will be carried out:

Visual checks

7 Emergency Procedures
 Evacuate The Area.
 Inform to Safety Office.
 Inform Local Authority
 Assemble in Assembly Area.
 Follow Safety Officer’s Instructions.
