Gbit/s

5G: It means “5º generation”. It can reach now 1,2 Gbits/s. Despite it starting in 2019, it’s
intended to be standardized in 2020. It’s the actual generation of mobile devices.

WWW: It stands for “World Wide Web”. It’s a red communicated through the Internet, and it
connects different pages with text, images, videos and other stuff. This pages are also
connected with a system called “hypertext”

E-mail: It translates for “Electronic Mail”. It’s an electronic service that can pass information
in the form of messages between devices. This information can be transferred on different
networks, depending on the program used or in the conexión that those devices have.

FTP: It stands for “File Transfer Protocol”, and, like his name indicates, it’s a protocol made
by two devices connected to a local TCP network that can be used for exchanging files or
downloading a copy of them.

Chat: A conversation between two or more devices using a network. The chat is written and
is made of messages sent by the different persons in the chat. The chats can be public or
private, meaning that anyone can enter or not.

Telnet: It means “Teletype Network”. It’s a network protocol that can make one device
control other devices in a remote way. It needs a network in which the two devices must be
connected.

HTTPS: It stands for “HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure”. It’s a communication protocol
that protects the data and information of his user from the website.

Digital signature: A digital signature is an electronic form of a signature that can be used to
authenticate the identity of the user who sent it and also confirms that that message hasn’t
been changed or manipulated.

Blog: It’s an acronym for “weblog”. It’s a discussion of one specific theme that is posted on
the internet web. It’s formed by entries called posts.

Firewall: It’s a digital program that can block any message passing by a network if they don’t
pass a set of specific rules set earlier.

Antivirus: It’s a software program that can search in the device for unintended and
dangerous programs called viruses, and also it can destroy them or contain them.

Spyware: It’s a software that let’s a user obtain information about another's computer
activities by passing data secretly from their device.
Domain: A domain it’s a group of computers that can be accessed and administered with a
common set of rules on a network.

Hosting Web: It’s a service that allows someone to post a website or web page onto the
Internet on some devices.

HTML: It stands for “Hypertext Markup Language”. It’s the standard programming language
for documents designed to be seen in a web browser.

PHP: PHP It’s an acronym for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor". PHP is a widely-used, open
source scripting language, like HTML.

Phishing: Phishing is a cybercrime in which someone is contacted by email, telephone or


text message by someone who lies about his identity to gain money.

Trojan: A trojan is a type of malware that is often disguised as legitimate software to trick
someone into downloading it.

Worm: A worm is a type of malware that spreads copies of itself from computer to computer
without any human interaction.

Quarantine: Changing files so they are isolated from the rest of your device and they cannot
spread or infect that device.

Freeware: A freeware software is a software that can be used in a completely free way by
any user, and can also be edited and modified without paying.

Shareware: A software that is firstly free, but after some specific time using it, it asks you to
pay to continue to use the software.

GNU: The GNU operating system is a complete free software system. It is a collection of
many programs: applications, libraries, developer tools, even games.

Adware: Software that automatically displays or downloads advertising material such as


banners or pop-ups when a user is online.

Hashtag: A hashtag is a way to connect social media content to a specific topic, event,
theme or conversation. It´s represented by this symbol (#).

Trending Topic: A trending topic is a theme that experiences a surge in popularity on one or
more social media platforms.

Spam: Spam is any kind of unwanted advertising digital communication, often an email, that
gets sent out constantly to any device.

Banner: an ​advertisement​ that ​appears​ ​across​ the ​top​ of a ​page​ on the ​internet​.
Web navigator: A web navigator (also known as a browser) is a software application for
accessing information on the World Wide Web.

Hacker: Expert programmer who can detect security errors in electronic programs and
devices.

Cracker: Expert programmer, someone who can gain unauthorized access to other devices
and extract confidential information.

Electronic cloud: The practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to
store, manage, and process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer.
