To Whom It May Concern,

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Ms. Rachel Kelderman for a teaching position.
I worked with Rachel during her preservice coursework at BHSU during the 2022-2023
academic year. I observed Ms. Kelderman’s enthusiasm, interest, and preparation with content,
learning, and application. During our time together, she demonstrated many of the qualities and
skills necessary to be a successful teacher.

During class, Rachel actively participated in classroom discussions and shared classroom
experiences. It is clear she has a genuine interest and joy for working with children. Throughout
the course, Rachel planned and prepared lessons and utilized effective resources and learning
activities to design instruction and assessment. For example, Rachel collaborated well with her
simulated grade-level team to plan a unit and a set of cohesive lessons aligned to a set of cross-
curricular standards and differentiation for hypothetical learner profiles. She demonstrated
readiness to plan for a diverse classroom and create a positive learning environment.

In addition to her academics, Rachel has experience in a variety of classroom settings and
community involvement. She has experience in four school districts and highly involved as a
VBS leader since 2016, Sunday School assist, private childcare sitter, and assistant with 4-H. Her
passion for students, hardwork, and community involvement make her an asset for schools and in
communities.

I would recommend Ms. Rachel Kelderman for an interview and position in your
building. Let me know if you have any further questions. I would be happy to help during her
interview process.

Take care,

Dr. Sydney Haugland
