SOME PRESENTATION TOPICS TO PREPARE AT HOME (NB2)

● Personal information: talk about yourself. Say your name, where you live,
your age, your occupation, your address, your phone number, the languages
you speak, give a physical description of yourself and say something about
your character/personality. What do you like/hate about you?

● Your daily routine: talk about what you do during the day, from morning till
night, if you do something different on different days of the week, what
times you do the different activities, how you feel at different times
(hungry, tired …), how often you do certain activities, if you do anything
special at weekends, etc.

● Describe a person you know well: a relative, a friend. Say his/her name,
who they are (your brother, your best friend, your neighbour …), give
physical description (height, weight, hair, eyes), give personal information
(age, occupation, where he/she lives, hobbies), say something about his/her
character, say what you like/hate about him/her.

● Skills: talk about things you can do well, very well or not very well.
Would you like to learn to do something? Why? Talk about other people’s
skills (your dad, your friend).

●Times you love: talk about the times (of day, week, season, etc) that you
like better and explain why. Talk about your favourite public holiday (when?
Where and how do you celebrate it? ) Example: my favourite day of the
week is Thursday because.... My favourite month is July because... , etc

● Free time: say when you have free time, what you like/love/hate doing in
your free time, why you like/love/hate doing those activities and how often
you do them. How do you feel when you do those things? Do you do those
things alone or with other people? Do you go to a specific place or building to
do those things? A gym, a park, the public library, etc. Do the activities
depend on the weather or not?
●Shopping: say if you like/dislike shopping and why. When do you usually go
shopping? What do you usually buy? Say what you really hate about shopping.
Talk about one or two things you have bought recently :what are they?
Where did you buy them? How much did they cost you? Use? Example: I use
it to wash the dishes.

● A past holiday: talk about a trip you enjoyed, where you went, who with,
how you got there, what you did, what you saw, what you bought, if you had a
good time and if you would like to go back. What was the weather like during
the holiday? Would you recommend it to anybody? Why (not)? Example: I
would recommend it to stressed people because it is very relaxing.

● A night out: talk about a night you went out. When was it exactly, on a
Saturday night, on a Friday night? Do you remember the exact date? On the
1st of May, perhaps? Did you go out to celebrate something in particular or
just because you wanted to have some fun? Say who you went with, where
you went, what you did, what you ate and drank, if you met a lot of people,
what time you went back home and how, and if you had a good time. Would
you like to go back there someday? Why (not)?

● Your house or flat: describe the place where you live, a house or a flat.
How old is it? Modern, old, so-so? Talk about the different parts in the
house/flat. Describe the furniture in one of the rooms. Say where the house
is (in the centre, in the country).Is it near the place where you work or
study? What facilities are there nearby: a department store, a cinema, a
sports centre, etc.? Talk about your neighbours. Do you have any problems
with them? Would you like to move to a new place? Why (not)?

● What’s happening: say what each person is doing in a particular picture (he
is watching football on TV, she is reading a book, the woman is in the kitchen
cooking, etc).
Say what you are wearing at this moment (I´m wearing a pair of jeans, a
white T-shirt, ...talk about your clothes, shoes, perfume, jewelry, make-up,
piercings, tattoos ...)

● What’s in your fridge/kitchen: say what food and drink there is in your
fridge, and how much. Say what you like eating/drinking, and how often you
eat/drink it. What is your favourite starter/main course/dessert? Talk
about how much water you drink. Are you on a diet now? Why (not)? Have
you ever been on a diet? When and why? Who goes shopping for food and
drinks, you, your mother, your husband, both ... ?

● Your town: Describe your village/town/city. Say what things there are or
there aren´t in your town (theatres, schools, parks, etc). Talk about your
favourite place (“La seda” park, etc), say why you like it. What things would
you like to change in that place, in your town,...? What do you think your town
needs: an opera house, more bus stops, a heated (climatizada) swimming
pool?, an indoor swimming pool, etc?

. Talk about a dream you have ever had: what is very long, short, strange,
scary(que da miedo), funny, stupid,...? What was happening in that dream?
Who and what appeared in that dream? How did it end? Did you tell anybody
about the dream? Why (not)? What do you think it means?

. Talk about the best/ worst/ cheapest/ most expensive place you have ever
been to. Explain why.

● Completing a form: A asks B for personal details to complete a form.


Then, they swap roles. CAN I HAVE YOUR …….? HOW DO YOU SPELL ….?

● My family: A & B draw their family trees and they swap them for the
exam. A asks B about some of his/ her relatives, then B asks A about some
of his/her relatives (who is Pablo? Occupation? Place of residence? Age? WE
GET ON VERY WELL

●Times you love: A & B talk about the times (of day, week, season, etc) that
they like better. They ask and answer questions about their favourite times
and explain why. They also ask and answer questions about their favourite
public holiday (When? Where and how do you celebrate it?)

●My best friend: A & B talk about their respective best friend. They ask
and answer questions about personal details, physical description and a bit of
personality (What´s his/her name? How old is he/she? What kind of music
does he/she like? Can you tell about his/her appearance? Can you tell me
about his/her personality?).

● In a gift shop: A is the shop assistant, B is the customer. B wants to buy


two gifts for his/her mum. Then, they swap roles.

● In a clothes shop: A is the shop assistant, B is the customer. B wants to


buy two pieces of clothing (he/she decides which). Then, they swap roles.

● In a restaurant / In a coffee shop: A is the waiter, B is a customer. B


orders a full meal (something to eat and to drink), A takes the order.
Then, they swap roles.

● Directions: A asks B for directions to get to two different places in the


city. B explains on the city map. Then, they swap roles.

● Your last holiday: A asks B about his/her last holiday (a trip somewhere).
Then, they swap roles.

● Your last night out: A asks B about his/her last night out. Then, they swap
roles.
. Giving advice : Student A has a problem and tells student B about that
problem. Student B gives him/her advice. Then, swap roles.

. In a pharmacy?: A is the pharmacist/chemist and B is the customer. B has a


headache or something and buys one or two medicines, etc... Then, swap
roles.
. What´s the friendliest place you have been to?: Students take turns (se
turnan) to ask and answer about the best/worst/noisiest/funniest/etc place
they have been to. They also explain why. Example: the noisiest place I have
ever been to is Rome. There is a lot of noise because there is too much
traffic and they don´t respect the rules. In addition, they are always
hooting (tocando el claxon del coche), it´s horrible sometimes!

. Students A and B ask and answer questions about a dream they have ever
had: what is very long, short, strange, scary(que da miedo), funny, stupid,...?
What was happening in that dream? Who and what appeared in that dream?
How did it end? Did you tell anybody about the dream? What do you think it
means?
