KV Compensation Board for 325 Generators Always order the replacement kit 01375-001, not the board alone. The kit includes the 01204 kVp compensation board, connector plugs and instructions. It is compatible with the older style A456 board and a direct replacement for the 01204 kVp comp board used in current production. To replace the old A456 board with the new 01204 board: 1 RON eran Tum OFF the Control's Power Switch & the main electrical disconnect switch feeding the control. Loosen one screw on each side of the top of the control and tit the control lid assembly up. Remove the Control's front panel. Locate the original kV comp board from the front of the main electrical chassis on the right side & remove it from the four plastic standoffs. Remove the four plastic standoffs from the main chassis. Cut the 10 soldered leads as close to the board as possible to preserve their length. Strip each of the 10 leads approx. 3/16” (5mm). Connect the 10 leads to the terminal strips of the new board as shown below. If additional lead length is necessary, remove the back panel of the control and cut the plastic wire ties which bundle the individual leads to the main harness. 9. Using the two lowest holes (which were used to mount the original board) & the hardware provided, mount the new board (resistor-side-up) to the main chassis. 10. To replace a current production 01204 kV compensation board simply transfer plugs J1, J2 and J3 to the new board. Page 1 of 2 01373-000 Rev. B Pre-Calibration The actual kVp output is created by the voltage between the common poles of the kVp major and kVp minor tap switches. The pots on the kVp compensation board adjust the needle on the control's kVp meter to match the actual output Providing that the mA is correct, these tap switch voltages will produce the kVp outputs shown, +/- 5 kVp. Select these tap switch voltages (+/- 2 VAC) and adjust the appropriate kVp comp pot to make the kVp meter needle point to the expected kVp. This can be done without taking exposures. Once mA is calibrated, confirm the kVp meter needle matches the actual kVp. Only minor adjustment of the kVp meter needle will be needed:once the meter is preset. Tap Switch Voltage to | 50 kVp 80 kVp 120 kVp kVp output matrix 50 mA 104 VAC 157 VAC 228 VAC 4100 mA 106 VAC | 160VAC__| 229 VAC 150 mA 112 VAC _167 VAC 238 VAC 200 mA 126 VAC. 180 VAC 250 VAC 300 mA 155 VAC 207 VAC 278 VAC Confirming the displayed kVp matches the actual kVp: Selecting the tap switch voltages above will produce the kVp output shown in the chart for each mA station. Adjust the compensation pots to make the needle display the expected kVp. Adjust the mA per the generator manual as needed, using the mA resistor bands. Then fine tune the kVp needle position display to match actual kVp output shown on your test equipment. Typically, the slope pot only needs to be set at 300 mA. Since slope and offset affect each other, you'll need to go back and forth between low and high kVp a few times to make the needle indicate properly at both tap switch voltages. 1, Connect your voltmeter between the common poles of the kVp tap switches. Tum on the generator. 2. Select 300 mA and 155 VAC tap switch volts (+/-2 VAC). Adjust R300 (the 300 mA offset pot) until the kVp meter needle points to 50 kVp. 3. Select 300 mA and 278 VAC tap switch volts (+/-2 VAC). Adjust the RS slope pot until the kVp needle points to 120KVp. The offset/siope adjustments are interactive. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the kVp needle points to 50 kVp for 155 VAC and 120 kVp for 278 VAC. Once the kVp displays correctly at low and high kVp for 300 mA no more adjustment of the RS slope pot is necessary. Select 200 mA and 180 VAG. Adjust the R200 offset pot until the kVp meter needle reads 80 kVp. Select 150 mA and 167 VAC. Adjust the R150 offset pot until the kVp meter needle reads 80 kVp. Select 100 mA and 160 VAC. Adjust the R100 offset pot until the kVp meter needle reads 80 kVp. Select 50 mA and 157 VAC. Adjust the R50 offset pot until the kVp meter needle reads 80 kVp. ‘Check kVp meter tracking over the entire kVp and mA range. Take exposures. It should require only minor adjustments to the kVp offset pots to make the kVp meter needle point to actual kVp output. Under normal conditions the kVp meter needle will point to within 5 kVp of the measured kVp output. ©a2roas Page 2 of 2 01373-000 Rev. B
