My wife is a CEO, she always hates me for being lazy and wants to divorce me.

But she doesn't

know that her success is bestowed by me.

“Divorce? What do you mean?” Dustin Rhys was taken aback, eyes on Dahlia Nicholson, his wife
and the president of the Quine Group, for an explanation.
“Don't you understand?” Dahlia Nicholson frowned. “Our marriage is over.”
Dahlia Nicholson said in front of the office window in her long black dress. Her flawless skin and
delicate bone structure made her look like a goddess right out of a painting.
“Things have changed, Dustin. Ms. Nicholson’s net worth has hit one billion in the course of just
three years, a feat no short of a miracle in Swinton. But look at you. You have been doing nothing
but living off Ms. Nicholson! A mere loser you are, and that's what Ms. Nicholson must get rid of
now!” The secretary added fuel to the oil.
“Is that so?” Dustin frowned on Dahlia. “Is that how you think of me, too?”
Three years ago, when they first got married, he was the one who helped them when they were at
their rock bottom. Now that they were rich, Dahlia Nicholson was ready to just kick him out.
Dahlia didn’t answer his question. She looked out of the window, silent for a while.
She finally talked: “Let's end it on a pleasant note. You can have the car and the house, plus eight
million as alimony. How does that sound?”
At that, she turned around and placed a card on the table.
“You think this is about money?” Dustin asked.
“Too little? That’s alright. Let me know what you want. I’ll give you anything within my power,”
Dahlia said placidly.
“You didn't understand. Let me rephrase. Are money and power that important to you?” Dustin
was truly bewildered.
Dahlia looked out over the city. There was determination in her eyes when she said, “To me, yes,
they’re very important.”
“But haven't you already earned enough?”
“Dustin, that’s where you and I diverge. You don't know what I want.” Dahlia shook her head in
disappointment.
They weren’t just incompatible in status and power; they were also incompatible in their life styles.
Most importantly, she did not see any hope for the future in him.
“You’re right. How would I know?” Dustin laughed bitterly. “All I know is to cook for you, do
your laundry, and carry you to the hospital when you need it.”
“There’s no point in going into this now.” Dahlia’s expression held complicated emotions, but it
was soon covered up by determination.
“You’re right.” Dustin nodded numbly. “I heard that you’ve been close with Chris Nolan, the heir
of the Nolan family. Is he the reason?”
Dahlia was about to deny it, but then had a second thought. Finally, she nodded.
“You can say that.”
“Okay. I hope you two are happy.” Dustin smiled and signed the divorce agreement without any
more hesitation. All he felt now was disappointment. Ironically, today was their wedding
anniversary. It was a cruel humor.
“I won't take the money, but I will take that crystal necklace back. It's my late mother's wish that my
wife wears it.”
Dahlia nodded and gave him the necklace.
Dustin put it on and turned to leave. His expression hold no more gentleness, only aloofness.
“Did I do the right thing, Lyra?” Dahlia asked hesitantly.
Even though she was the one who asked for the divorce, she didn’t feel happy at all when it was
finalized.
“Of course you did! ” Lyra nodded. “ You have the right to pursue happiness. Dustin will only
bring you down, while you’re destined to be the most powerful woman in Swinton!”
Dahlia did not answer her. As she watched Dustin leave, she felt as if she was losing something
precious.

Chapter 2
In the elevator, Dustin stared at the crystal necklace dejectedly. He had once thought that happiness
was simple. Now, he found out that normality was a sin. It was time to awake from this prolonged
daydream and resume to be the king of his empire.
Suddenly, his phone rang, breaking him out of his trance. He picked it up. It was a familiar voice.
“ Mr. Rhys, this is Hunter Anderson from the Swinton Group. I heard today is your wedding
anniversary, so I’ve prepared you a gift.”
“Thank you for your kindness, but I’m afraid we won’t be needing it,” Dustin said.
“Why?”
Hunter was taken aback. He could sense something wrong.
“Anything else you’d like to talk about, Mr. Anderson?”
“Ahem...actually, yes. ” Hunter cleared his throat awkwardly. “ I have a friend who went down
with a strange illness. No doctor could do anything about it so far. I was hoping that you might
help.”
“Mr. Anderson, sorry to hear that, but you know my rules.”
“Of course I do! I’m making a sincere request. My friend owns some canscora, which I remember
you were looking for. I’m sure he’ll be willing to part with it if you help,” Hunter said.
“Is it true?” Dustin asked seriously.
“Yes!”
“Alright, if that’s so, I’ll take a look.” Dustin immediately agreed to the terms.
He wasn’t interested in material stuffs, but rare medical herbs were exceptions, as he needed them
to save lives.
“Thank you, Mr. Rhys! They will come pick you up soon!” Hunter smiled in relief.
As the president of the Swinton Group and one of the Mighty Three of Swinton, Hunter acted
exceptionally timidly in front of Dustin.
“Great, one more done, five to go. I should have enough time,” Dustin muttered to himself. His
mood was lifted a little now.
"Ding!" the elevator doors opened. As soon as Dustin stepped out of the building, he was met by
two familiar faces.
It was Florence Franklin, and James Nicholson, Dahlia's mother and brother.
Behind them were ten security guards in a line.
“Mom, James,” Dustin sensed something not right, but still greeted them.
Yet his greetings went ignored.
“Search this guy, make sure he leaves without a single cent from Quinne Group” Florence Franklin
made a gesture, and Dustin was soon surrounded.
This was going too far. Dustin clentched his fist.
Suddenly, a hand reached to his necklace and pulled it off roughly.
"How dare you steal Dahlia's necklace!" It was James Nicholson.
“Give it back!” Dustin demanded, his expression darkened.
That was his mother’s keepsake, and it was invaluable.
"Keep searching, I bet there is more."James just ignored him, drooling over the necklace.
Somehow Dustin whooshed out and reached Jame's wrist accurately.
All security guards dumbfounded. That was too fast to even notice.
"Ooouch!" James cried, feeling sudden and acute pain in his wrist.

Chapter 3
That cry caught many onlookers' attention, a crowd was gradually formed around them.
Florence demanded all guards to stay aside temporarily, afraid her son would be hurt more.
However, James was so fumed that he just threw the necklace onto the marble ground. With a crisp
clink, the crystal necklace broke into several pieces.
Dustin blanched. He let go of James and went to the broken pieces. This was the only thing he had
to remember his mother by. His face dark in the shadow, his expression unreadable.
Dustin turned, eyes on James. The rage in his eyes stunned everyone, it was so intense that Florence
was almost frozen.
"What are you waiting for, Get him now!" Florence finally got her wits back. She rushed to check
his son, not forgeting to give orders.
Just as they were about to act, a voice sounded.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
A curvaceous woman barged into the crowd with her bodyguards. With her lips painted a fiery red,
she was stunningly beautiful. She dressed in a skin-tight, silver dress that showcased her tiny waist
and alluring curves. In addition, her porcelain skin and captivating features radiated an aura of
nobility, like a queen who had come to grace her subjects with her presence.
All security guards stared at her, frozen. She was one of the most attractive women they had ever
seen.
“Mr. Rhys, are you okay?”
The woman ignored all attention she was getting and headed straight toward Dustin.
“Do I know you?”
Dustin narrowed his eyes at her, his anger dissipating.
Dustin's ex-wife Dahlia was already an eye-catcher, but this woman was just on par with Dahlia in
looks and bearings.
“Nice to meet you, I am Natasha Harmon. Mr. Anderson told me to find you here,” She held out
her hand, looking straight into Dustin's eyes, a slight smile playing on her lips.
“Ah, it’s you.” Dustin nodded.
He had heard of Natasha before. Natasha Harmon was a household name around the city. She was
pretty, influential, and smart. At 22 years old, she had already gained control of the Harmon Group
and built her own business empire within five years.
“Mr. Rhys, please wait in the car. I’ll deal with this.”
Natasha snapped her fingers. Her four bodyguards advanced foward. Even though there were just
four of them, their auras was enough to make those security guards back off.
“After you, Mr. Rhys.”
Seeing that no one else dared to move, Natasha smiled and held out a hand to lead Dustin to her
Rolls Royce. Without a word, Dustin picked up the pieces of his necklace and left with Natasha. No
one dared to stop him.
...
Dahlia soon was informed of what happened.
Florence cried so loud.
“ James just picked up some crystal necklace Dustin dropped and tried to give it back, but he
claimed that your brother took it from him. Look at your brother's wrist! The hand is a goner, my
poor James!”
She began crying more dramatically.
Dahlia frowned. “But Dustin has always been mild-tempered. Why would he mess with James for
no reason?”
“ If you don ’ t believe me, ask the security guards. They saw everything! ” Florence gave the
security guards a look.
“Ms. Nicholson, it was Dustin who started it. If it weren’t for us, she would’ve been hurt, too.” The
head of security understood Florence perfectly.
Florence continued. “I’ve told you before, that Rhys guy is a hypocrite. You know what? He has
just left with his new girlfriend!”
Hearing this, Dahlia frowned. Could Dustin really do such a thing? Maybe he was furious about the
divorce and wanted to get back at her. If so, then she had to admit that she had misjudged him!

Chapter 4
“Mom, take James to the hospital. I’ll deal with this.”
Dahlia gestured for two guards to send Florence and James to the hospital.
“What do you think, Lyra?”
Dahlia rubbed her temples. She felt a headache coming on.
“It’s obvious, isn’t it? It was Dustin who picked on them first,” Lyra said.
“But my mother’s not exactly that honest…” Dahlia began. She knew her mother and brother well.
They were a hot-tempered duo.
“Either way, it’s still wrong for him to start the fight!” Lyra said righteously. “Dustin clearly did
that regardless of your feelings!”
Dahlia ’ s frown deepened along with her doubts. Lyra was right. It seemed like her decision to
divorce him was right.
Dahlia took out her phone and called Dustin. At the same time, Dustin was sitting in a Rolls Royce
and frowned when he saw the call coming in. Despite his reluctance, he still picked up the call.
"Dustin, I need an explanation!" Dahlia demanded.
"Did you do that to James just because I divorced you?"
Dustin was taken aback. She basically gave him no chance to explain. After three years of marriage,
she was treating him as if he was a mere stranger, or worse.
Hearing no response, Dahlia continued: “Dustin, I’ll give you another chance. Go to the hospital
right now and apologize to James, and I'll let go of it. Otherwise…”
Dustin retorted. “You will get back at me?”
“Dustin! Are you really going to throw away my goodwill like this?” Dahlia snapped.
“Are you sure it’s goodwill?”
“You…” Dahlia’s retort was cut off as Dustin hung up.
She almost threw out her phone in anger. Dahlia had always been good at hiding her true emotions.
It was one of the reasons why she had managed to get to where she was today. But right now, she
was having a little trouble in that regard.
“That's rude...” Lyra was about to say more when Dahlia stopped her.
“That’s enough. I need to work on more important matters, like the Swinton Charity Gala tonight.”
“Representatives from the Harmon Group would be there, too.”
“The Swinton Charity Gala? Is that a chance for us to partner with...?”
Dahlia cut in before Lyra finished her sentence.
“ That ’ s right. My sources told me that the Harmon Group has shortlisted us for their potential
partner.”
Lyra's eyes widened with ecstasy: “Yaaaay! I’ll go make the arrangement for tonight!”
...
On the other side. Dustin arrived at Swinton Primary Hospital.
Natasha led him into a VIP ward, where an old man was lying on the bed. Several doctors
surrounded him, but none of them looked optimistic.
“Natasha! You’re finally here!”
A young woman with a poping ponytail ran up to them. She was the second daughter of the
Harmon family, Ruth Harmon, and the old man on the bed was Andrew Harmon, her grandfather.
“Ms. Harmon, we’ve already done everything we could.” a doctor said helplessly.
“Mr. Rhys will take over,” Natasha said coldly.
“Mr. Rhys?”
The surrounding doctors exchanged looks filled with suspicion.
Dustin looked too young to be a good doctor.
To be frank, she wasn’t quite sure about Dustin either, but if Hunter recommended him, then he had
to have his merits.
“Could Mr. Anderson have been conned, too?” Ruth looked doubtful. “Hey, you, are you really a
doctor?”
“I do know a little about medicine,” Dustin replied.
“Just a little?” Ruth pouted.
“Well, I won’t believe you unless you can prove it,” Ruth said with her head held high.
“How can I prove it, then?” Dustin asked nonchalantly.
“Tell me what ails me!”
“Alright, show me your tongue,” Dustin said.
Ruth did as he said.
After a quick check, Dustin said without any hesitation, “ Endocrine imbalance. You must be
experiencing migraines. There are also signs of foodborne illness. You might wanna watch out for
your digestive system. You’ve been having diarrhea, haven’t you? Oh, by the way, you also have
hemorrhoids…”
The more he spoke, the tenser Ruth became.

Chapter 5
“How did you know that?”
Ruth’s eyes almost bugged out. That was like hitting the bullseye!
“There’s a lot you can tell by merely looking at people,” Dustin said nonchalantly.
“What do you think now, Ruth?” Natasha smiled. At the same time, she heaved a silent sigh of
relief.
“He just got lucky!” Ruth refused to admit defeat.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Rhys. Please ignore her,” Natasha told Dustin apologetically.
“It’s fine. Shall we begin?”
Dustin didn’t take Ruth’s attitude to heart. He walked over to Andrew and gave him a thorough
check-up. It didn’t take long for him to find out what was going on. It was obvious that the old man
had been tricked by some unknown creature. The influence was pretty potent. Thankfully, it was
discovered early on. If given another day or two, there was nothing he could do, neither!
“Ms. Harmon, can you get me a silver acupuncture set?” Dustin asked.
“No problem.”
Natasha waved a hand. Five minutes later, the bodyguard returned with the set.
Dustin nodded his thanks, then began the therapy. First, he tapped his knuckles against the old man,
making sure he was working on the correct positions. His actions were light but firm as his hands
flew deftly. With his skill, his patient would feel no pain at all. Seeing this, Natasha was surprised.
“He’s good!”
She had met some experts in the field. From what she could see, those old experts had nothing on
Dustin. His skills were one of the most experienced and talented kind with years in practice. She
started to be curious about this man.
Once the acupuncture therapy was over, Dustin breathed a sigh of relief. It had been some time
since he last performed acupuncture, but thankfully he was still skilled.
“Is that all? Nothing changed!” Ruth looked confused.
“It’ll take about two hours to drain the toxin from his body; no one shall remove the set within the
next two hours, or there might be serious consequence!”
Ruth pouted.
“I need to go to the bathroom. Please watch over him while I’m gone,” Dustin told the occupants
of the room before leaving.
Not long after he left, a group of doctors barged in.
Those were some of the most skilled doctors in the hospital. A balding man led the troupe.
“I am doctor Jansen, the executive director of the hospital, and the dean of the medical school. I’m
here on orders to treat Old Mr. Harmon,” the balding man introduced.
“Ah, you’re that famous Dr. Jansen! The best doctor in Swinton!” Ruth was ecstatic.
“More like one of the best,” Dr. Jansen said proudly, “but yes, I am.”
“It’s great to meet you, Dr. Jansen. Come in please.”
Ruth clearly trusted Dr. Jansen more than she trusted a youngster like Dustin.
Dr. Jansen nodded. When he got nearer to the bed, he frowned. “What’s this? What nonsense is
this?”
As he spoke, he made to interrupt the therapy.
“Wait!” Seeing this, Natasha stopped him.
“Dr. Jansen, I’ve hired another healer. He said that my grandfather has been ill because of some
unknown creature. And we cannot remove the set as there might be serious consequence.”
“ Nonsense! ” Dr. Jansen snorted derisively. “ If acupuncture really works, what are doctors for
then?”
Ruth agreed. “Natasha, that Dustin barely looks a day over 20. Please don’t tell me you believe
what he said.”
"Ms. Harmon, all of the best doctors in Swinton are here." Dr. Jansen took the next word. "Face the
reality, or it would just make things worse!"
“Dr. Jansen has saved a lot of people! Old Mr. Harmon will be safe in his hands!” the other doctors
behind him chimed in.
Their confidence weakened Natasha ’ s resolution. However, she insisted, “ But I still think we
should wait for Mr. Rhys to come back.”
“Why should we?” Ruth said. “Maybe he has already fled, Natasha!”
“Ms. Harmon, I’m busy. Listen, if I remove them and anything bad happens, it’ll be all on me.”
With that, Dr. Jansen pulled out all of the acupuncture set.
As soon as the set was removed, something strange happened.
Andrew’s body began convulsing. His face went black soon, and the machines on either side of the
bed began beeping.
“How come?” Dr. Jansen taken aback by the turn of events.
“What’s this, Dr. Jansen?” Natasha frowned.
“This is weird, he was fine earlier…” Dr. Jansen felt uneasy.
“Sir, the patient is coding!”
“Quick, get the machines!”
Without delay, Dr. Jansen began emergency resuscitation. Even after a lot of effort, Andrew did not
seem to get better at all. In fact, his stats were declining uncontrollably. Dr. Jansen was panicking.
“Ms. Harmon, I think… I think Old Mr. Harmon is… dying…”
“What?” Both Natasha and Ruth were shocked.

Chapter 6
“You liar!” Natasha was enraged. She grabbed Dr. Jansen by the collar and yelled, “I told you not
to remove them! Look what you have done!”
“No, this has got nothing to do with me!” Dr. Jansen shook his head fervently. “It must be that
other healer. His therapy must have caused this to happen!”
