obtaining, utilizing & maintaining a satisfied
workforce.

Steps in Staffing Process
1. Procurement:
a. First function of staffing process.
b. It includes –
1. Manpower Planning: Process of determining current & future
manpower needs in terms of quantity & quality of the personnel.

2. Recruitment: It implies locating acceptable candidates.

3. Selection: Finding best candidates out of available candidates.

4. Placement: Assigning specific jobs to the selected candidates.

2. Development:
a. Training personnel to increase their skills while doing their jobs.

b. It includes –
1. Orientation of personnel.

2. Training of personnel.

c. Socializing process of adjusting the newly hired employees in


the organization.

d. Preparing the employees for additional responsibility.

3. Compensation:
a. Fair & equitable remuneration of personnel for their contributions to
the organizational goals.

b. It includes both –
1. Monetary Rewards.

2. Non-monetary Rewards.

c. Job evaluation is the process of determining the relative worth of


different jobs in the organization.

d. Performance appraisal, promotions, transfer, etc. are other elements


of compensation.

4. Integration:
a. Developing a sense of belonging to the enterprise.

b. Bringing harmony and team-spirit among employees.

c. Quick and satisfactory redressal of all problems and


grievances of employees.

d. Motivating employees towards the accomplishment of

5. Maintenance:
a. Provision of Facilities and services that are required to
maintain the physical & mental health of employees.

b. Measures for health, safety and comfort of employees.

c. Includes various welfare services like provision of cafeteria,


restrooms, group insurance, recreation club, education of
children of employees, etc.

d. Problems of employee turnover due to discharge, retirement,


layoff, etc. is also included in this.
