Intelligence Collection: ONI officers collect information through various means,


including signals intelligence (SIGINT), human intelligence (HUMINT), imagery
intelligence (IMINT), and open-source intelligence (OSINT). They may operate
sophisticated equipment and systems to intercept and analyze communications, track
the movement of ships and submarines, and monitor other relevant activities.

Counterintelligence: ONI officers are involved in counterintelligence activities,


which include identifying and countering foreign intelligence threats to the Navy.
They work to protect sensitive information, personnel, and operations from
espionage and other security risks.

Liaison and Collaboration: ONI officers often collaborate with other branches of
the military, intelligence agencies, and international partners to share
