VDR Explorer configurator tool
Introduction
• The VDR Explorer configuration tool can generate VDR explorer tab pages
based on information stored in a CSV file.
• Useful when a lot of very similar numeric objects has to be created i.e. RDI’s

If #4 = "0"
Print "Not closed"

Special tags:
Mandatory column, but no data are required. This column is used to control the layout
of the VDR Explorer configuration. The following “special tags” has been defined:
NEW_OBJECT: Size (extra small, small, large – current size will be used if not specified).
NEW_PANEL
NEW_TAB: Title (Title is optional. If not specified, the name of the new tab will be the
name of the current tab with a running number as trailing character(s).
Decoder folder:
Mandatory column, but no data are needed for generating a VDR Explorer configuration.
The decoder generated based on the data present in this row will be stored in this folder
190
VDR Explorer configurator tool
Example - Sentence
ID: The tag created for this example. All ID’s received in the sentence on SI02 must be in this tag.
Object label: Mandatory column, but no data are needed for generating a decoder library.
This will become the “descriptor” in front of the data when showed in the VDR Explorer.
MS Excel may be used for creating the CSV file i.e. use Excel as editor, when done
store the file as XLS and then as CSV. Do not later open and edit the CSV file using
Excel. If changes are needed edit the XLS file and store a CSV file again.

Example - Decoder
In this case a “prototype decoder” which is known to work has been pasted into the editor
window. For this particular decoder, the encircled text needs to be replaced with a tag
(the list to the right displays possible tags however only if a CSV file is loaded).

- Setup a network channel in the VDR to receive the data
• Use the VDR Explore configurator tool to create a new tab page
- Objects for 9 doors from PBES sentence (ID I14441-I14449)
- 6 Inputs from digital RDI (DI00,01,06,07,20,21)
- 2 Inputs from Analog RDI (AN00,01)
- Calibrate Analog inputs

Annual Performance Test (APT)
• VDR APT Certificate issued by Danelec Marine to the distributor upon verification of
the Annual Performance Test results.
• Each VDR APT Certificate has a unique authenticity code and the genuineness of
the VDR APT Certificate may be verified at http://service.danelec-marine.com.
• This information is conveyed to all Classes in order for Inspectors to directly validate
the genuineness of the VDR APT Certificates issued after March 1, 2012.
234
Annual Performance Test (APT)
Before APT
• Always use the latest version of APT tool.
.
Onboard vessel
.
• Initial check of VDR installation e.g. it is a required
(IMO) prerequisite that VDR has recorded data 12
hours prior to an APT.
.
• Download of data from the VDR to PC and verification
of data. The "APT Tool" will do that automatically.
.
• Elimination of discovered problems (if any) and Re-
check of data showing that problems are fixed (Re-
extraction).
.
235
Annual Performance Test (APT)
At Danelec
• Verification of data by
Danelec.
