Elf Stocking

Pattern Designed by Mary Smith 2016

Elf Stocking Page 2 of 7

Before you begin

• This stocking is worked in continuous rounds. Mark the beginning of each
round with a stitch marker.
• Use the “magic ring” when starting rounds. There are many youtube videos
teaching how to make a magic ring or magic circle.
• Gauge is not important in this project as long as you are consistent with your
tension.
• TIP: Always change colors in the stitch BEFORE the color change by pulling
the new color through the 2 loops, thus beginning with the correct color on your
hook.
• This project is made with all sc stitches unless otherwise specified.

Finished stocking is about 16” long if using worsted weight yarn.

R14: [dec, sc 4] x13 (65)

FO, leave 24” tail.
When cutting white felt for eyes, insert the eyes into the felt and then cut around them to
get them the size you like. Alternately, you can use the oval template above if you are
working with worsted weight yarn. If you are using larger or smaller yarn, you can
change the size of the template to be the size you like.
Insert 12mm eyes and felt at R3-4, 2-4 sts apart.
Use tail to sew to head to stocking 3 rows down from cuff, and about 7 rows up from
heel. Stuff lightly. I find scraps of bonded batting easier to use for this part.
